Lobster pot sink hack

Our caravan pal Steve had this in his sink and I thought I’d share with you as it works great for boondocking
That’s a TubTrug sp15g flex tub 15 liter and it fits quite well in the sink in my 2016 FC FBT. I take the sink water and pour it into the toilet. Attachment 1

What a cool idea, thanks for sharing!

Another link, this one to the blue version, which is currently less expensive than the green. In either case, if you dig a little, you can get it via Prime even though the first seller listed doesn't do Prime.

Yep, I have been using something similar for years.

I have found round basins like this, with and without handles, in the outdoor/picnic ware section of WalMart, sometimes just in and amongst their kitchenware.

I like the dark red ones.

Buy a big tub of ice cream. Provides great satisfaction and works well when empty!

Can I ask the purpose of this? Is it to flush toilet without using more water from holding tank? I can see just dumping it outside to save filling the gray water tank. Sorry but I had to ask.

We use this one. It is easy to store when not in use. Great for boondocking and when the camper has been winterized and you are using bottled water.

We do something like this to manage tank volumes. While our gray and black tanks are the same size, the gray fills FAR faster than the black (something for which one might be exceedingly grateful - but I digress). So over a 3-4 day weekend, all that dishwater, the water it takes to get hot water to flow from the shower head - it’s all usually better served to fill the black tank so I’m not spending a half hour filling it for a full flush when we leave or having to dump the grey tank mid-weekend. Of course - if we’re connected to a sewer site, it doesn’t matter as much.

Thanks for that update. Since I only have one tank, I guess my concern would be to watch the tank volume and if I was filling to quickly, I could capture the sink water and dump outside. I hadn't thought about having the full tank when dumping. Since most of our camping was at State parks with no hookups or electric, we tended to use the camps facilities. For showers at the trailer we did it outside.

I use the black oil pan from the 99 cent store fits perfectly and has the pour spout dent so I can empty the water into the toilet when boondocking.

GR8 response on "Why" to manage fill on black water tank. Things that make me go, "Huh! Oh, I get it now"

I like the tub, but any ideas on where to easily store it when not needed?

Just leave it in the sink...a great carry spot for your dish wand, ripening fruit, etc.
