How should I treat a small dent

One of the arms got away from me when taking down the awning during wind storm. It hit the airstream creating a quarter size wound. How should I treat it? Should I get some kind if finish to put over it. I don't want the damage to spread. This is the first boo boo on my 2016 FC FB. Also how should I treat minor scratches ? My neighbors dog decided to visit me a left a few minor stitches on the door. 😬

You need to repair the clearcoat with some clear coat touch up. Any breaks in the clear coat will cause corrosion. If it did not break the clear coat then leave it be.

Just think of that kind of stuff as your Airstream's own charming individuality!

Enjoy it... don't obsess over it.

This has become my new attitude toward couple of small 'aluminum-souvenirs' resulting from my uprooting my mailbox with the curb side of the Airstream... before this new outlook, I was almost suicidal !

I was thinking about this a bit. If the finish wasn't compromised, I'd consider a 2 or 3 inch stainless or other material disc affixed to cover the ding, 3m tape or some such method, and then the dang arm can swing on down and hit that......in fact, I'd maybe put one on the other side too, so they match.......in fact, if Airstream starts putting them on there from factory I claim copyright of the idea as of the date/time of this post

There's a thread in here somewhere about patches that is endlessly fascinating. I think "show us your patches" or something like that.

I think AS sells a clear coat pen for scratches and heck, little dings and stuff give your rig character. 😀

As an experience. Mine has them and it did when I bought it. Like a private investigator I figured out what the original owner did to get a few of them- the awning was not locked down when traveling. My first was almost basketball sized. Needless to say I could not stand it and had the panel replaced.

I like his thread..I, too, have a desire to keep my Bambi pristine. The facts are if you use your trailer you ar going to get beauty marks. It's unavoidable.
My dealer doing maintenance put some scratches on an upper panel doing a roof repair. He denied it but I know my baby like the back of my hand. They weren't there when I brought my rig in.
Obviously, big boo boos got to be repaired. Don't sweat the little dings that are really just character lines...just like the ones on my face��

So, is your AS a keeper/heirloom or tooling to support your travel plans? Do you have excess funds or a very tight budget?

The answers kind of guide you to patch, fix, or ignore. All valid and acceptable solutions.

One sees a couple of approaches:

*hide it at all costs.

*don't do anything

Personally, though, i ptrefer this approach:

*highlight it, making it into something to laugh about. You could even get a nice potty-training target decal and have some real fun with it!
