Got Our 2016 30' FC Home

After ordering back in July, I finally picked up our 2016 30' Flying Cloud last week at Foley RV in Gulfport, MS. I took 16" wheels & tires up and the guys swapped them out, and also had them install the SS vent, fresh water door & outside shower. Had an uneventful tow back to Orlando and our baby is now parked under the carport with the AC's humming while we get everything loaded back into her.

Did the full monty corrosion prevention protocol (Corrosion X on rivets and seams, Nyalic brushed on all seams & a couple pinprick scratches I found then washed & waxed with Finish First sealant).

Everything was operational at delivery with a several minor fit & finish items I had corrected before leaving - mostly rough edges on laminate, a bible in a wardrobe door (swapped from another unit) and adjustment of the range top.

I discovered what appears to be a bad LPG regulator/crossover switch on the way home. Ron is having a new regulator sent to me and I'll swap it out here.

I also replaced the Atwood Premier 3000# jack with the 4000# model since I was having difficulty raising the trailer & truck high enough to get the Blue Ox bars latched. More powerful jack did the trick plus it has more travel.

I have a new charger/converter inbound from Randy so I don't cook my batteries, and I am planning on swapping out the skylights for Maxim units next year.

A few interesting things I noticed relative to older units ...
  • The skylights no longer are screwed down - they are held on only with sealant/butyl tape. I guess they had enough issues with the screws craking the plastic and leaking
  • The vacuum breaker on the sewer flush line is now a brass unit rather than plastic.
  • Everything attached to the skin (except the tailight housings) is isolated by a gasket to help prevent corrosion from abrasion.
  • The AIRSTREAM logo on the end caps is plastic letters instead of the decal-like stuff - like auto badges.
  • While the cabinate/countertop fit and finish was a bit dodgy in spots, the fit of the skin, interior metal and window frames is better than my 2005.
  • There are no longer any Thor decals on the trailer.

Ron & Blake at Foley were great to work with. I wish they were closer, but I was 100% satisfied with my decision to purchase there.

Congratulations on your new Baby, and personally I don't think you could have made your purchase from a better dealer. Ron is a great person and will assist you in any possible way as will the service department. I give them high marks on resolving issues.

Once again Congratulations !

Congrats! What are you getting for a new charger/converter and are you planning on doing the install yourself? Curious because I'm thinking of swapping out mine in our 2012 for a new one. j

I have a Powermax Boondocker 60A deck mount on the way (I have a 50A trailer). I am doing the install myself.

Terrific, good job!

Might as well spray the under body steel, axles, drums, step and spare tire assembly, stabilizers, various bolts and screws with CorrosionX or Boeshield T9 while you're at it. As well as spray and wipe down the shell accessories, taillights, hinges, locks, grab bar, etc with CorrosionX.

Congratulations on the new Airstream!

Congratulations on the new Airstream!

Actually I did spray the stabs, steps, wheels and exposed frame/shocks with Boeshield. Got tired of typing 😀

I'm actually thinking of masking off the tail light castings and hinges and spraying them with Nyalic to seal them better. It has either been windy or rainy here, so no go on that yet. I did hit a couple suspicious looking spots with C-X in the meantime.

Good to hear Keith. In four years using these products from the start we have no corrosion on or under our Airstream.

I did that with the tail light housings and Chrome plastic rings. Done in 2012, no corrosion to date.

Hello everyone!
I hope I am not asking a dumb question but why the corrosion protection spray? This is the first thread I read talking about it.

BTW. we have a 2013 International 30' we bought from
Foley as well. Great experience, good people.

Do we need corrosion protection in the central valley of CA? No humidity & no salt air.
