Fridge pilot light

So yet another refrigerator quedtion. Is the pilot light for the refrigerator initialized by electric current? Until I know why my fridge won't kick over to gas when on auto, I manually put on the gas button. When I did not hear the pilot clicking to light, I checked the pilot and noticed it was not on. So how do I light the pilot?

First up, make sure you have propane at the fridge burner, not a lot of air in the line.

Make sure tanks are turned on and full of propane.

Use the stove burners to purge the air out of the lines--make sure stove burners light and work ok.

Then try the fridge again. It take take turning it on and off a couple times to get it lit.

I have done the first three items. Tonight I am on shore power so no problem but tomorrow when I head out i will definitely be sure there is no air in the lines and try gas button a few times to see if that works. Thanks so much for the info. 🤦*♀️

Are you sure your water heater has a "pilot light" and not a Piezo-type ignitor (which you should hear clicking to light the burner flame)?

What year AS and year/type water heater do you have? The older water heaters do indeed have pilot lights, which stay lit, and do not need any electrical current (either 12-volt DC or 120-volt AC) to light the main burner flame. In this type of older heater, a thermocouple has to stay warm to keep the pilot light burning.

If you have the ignitor style, yes it does require 12-volt electricity to operate, either from the shore power supplying the converter, or from the batteries. If your batteries are in good shape, it is irrelevant whether you are on shore power, in order to run the fridge on propane.

Is it possible your batteries are not up to par? What is the battery voltage indicated on your monitor panel? [measured 1 hour after disconnecting from shore power]
