Bathroom mirror opens during travel

Does anyone know a trick to keep our mirror/cabinet door from flipping up and open during travel. We are careful to close it properly before we leave but it’s always open after travel.
Thanks

Add some velcro on the bottom of the cabinet frame. Close and PRESS before travel.

I had same problem. Velcro did not work. Tried it. I put another black latch on the bottom. I used a 10lb latch. That solved it for me. No more problems. You can buy 4 at a time on Amazon. Way cheaper. I think about $13 for 4 10lb latches. And you will want a few extra. I had the one i added break on me so I had to replace it. The links is for 8lb. I used 10lb.

Our mirror cabinet is plastic, not sure if yours is too? But what I did was I drilled a couple of holes and installed small eye bolts on both top and bottom of the cabinet, and then a small bungee cord attached to both holds the cabinet door closed. Super easy and cheap and it works great for us.

Chuckash.....I don't know how the mirrors are set up on the 2020 25' trailers. Our 2007 25' trailer's mirror has hinges on the top of the mirror and the bottom of the mirror is pulled out to get access to the storage behind the mirror. The mirror originally had one plastic latch on one side to hold it closed. We installed a second latch on the other side of the mirror similar to what Daquenzer suggested, and we never had a problem with it opening while on the road. We also had problems with some of the drawers opening while on the road and we replaced the plastic latches with a similar latch with a higher holding capacity.

Another reason there needs to be a national shrine to bungee cords right alongside the shrine to duct tape. A simple bungee attached to the cabinet and run across the mirror to the other side has kept our mirror secured for 20 years. Chollabill

If you are still under warantee, tell the dealer and they will fix it! We had both a pop up mirror and a pop open locker and they increased the size of the locks on both for no charge at all.

Let's take a different approach.

Trying lowering your PSI on your rig.

Mine says on the tire 80psi for max load. I never 'really' had a problem at 80, but learning more about it, I have lowered mine to 70. The rig feels looser to me and i guess it is supposed to be a smoother ride for your rig.

If you have the FB model, then I think you might have the horizontal rectangular mirror that flips up, right? The original clasp is flimsy and during my first warranty appointment, they replaced it with a bigger one which worked for a while. But then I started finding the mirror in up position again after a day of travel, and went back to using duct tape to keep it closed until the next warranty appointment. They put a second strong latch next to the other one and it's stays shut now. It also takes a little more effort to pull open to access shelf behind it..

We have a 2020 25’ FC FB twin. We have taken a few trips since we got 5 weeks ago. A few small issues, under kitchen sink door hinge failed, the BR mirror , and the deadbolt latch isn’t linining up to lock. I plan tottake it for service ASAP to correct these issues. Otherwise smooth sailing!
Thanks

The service people at our dealership added a latch. It now takes two hands to pull it open, but it doesn't open on the road!

If you read my previous post this is what I did on my own. It is very easy to do. Cost is minimal. Time is minimal. Don't think you want to take it back to the dealer for this small of a fix. And you want some extra latches around. They will go bad on you after awhile.

I attached a small strap to the bottom, right corner of cabinet door, then a snap to the bottom of cabinet. Only snap during travel, doesn't show, stopped it from flipping up during travel. An above post mentions tire pressure. This issue happened in my first two outings on rough highways when I was running 80 PSI that dealer said was a must. This cabinet door was not the only problem resulting from travel. I now run 55 PSI, get a much better ride, and no more hinges, screws, and rivets popping off. I could probably now do without snapping the strap, but better safe than sorry and it has become habit to snap it.

I like Biker’s fix. Ours is less elegant but it works: 2 x 4-5” long pieces of 1” Gaffer’s tape holds it nicely. Just finished 3800 mile trip. No pops. 2019 27’ FC FBT.

Greetings A quick fix on our FC 2019 rbq for the bathroom mirror was my better half put a new hair tie over the latch for the swing out mirror ! It has not opened since! We in the past used a rubber band in past! But now a new hair tie does the trick!

Our simple mirror solution

We also have had this issue with our 2019 25FB. The solution I used is pretty simple and easy to undo. There is a pocket of sorts above that cabinet and I just cut a small piece of wood to slide into it with a bit of nylon webbing attached. Then just one screw on the bottom of the cabinet with a snap.

Just fold up a piece of paper towel and wedge it between the two mirror panels. You can also do this with your upper cabinets in your international as well to keep them from sliding. It creates enough tension between the two panels to hold them in place while under way.

The PSI will depend on your tires. According to the specs for my tires (I cannot recall what they are at this moment, but we upgraded our wheels/tires) for the load on our 27' we needed to run about 70psi. I usually set it to 72. Our tire would not be happy with the existing load at 55 psi. In other words, this will depend on your tire and your trailer weight!
