Airstream is on order - yay!
We just put a deposit down for a 23FB Flying Cloud Airstream today. Really thankful for all the experts on this forum. Have a feeling we will be frequent visitors and look forward to any tips the "pros" are willing to share. Guess it's time to start planning the first camping trip for the spring.

Congrats. We just took delivery on a new 23FB. She's in storage now for the winter, but we've already planned a shake down weekend in a nearby state park the last weekend in April. We can't wait.

Is delivery during winter a bad idea?
For those of you that took delivery during the winter, how was the AS transported? Was it transported in a flat bed or pulled behind to the dealer? If pulled behind, did you have any issues with road salt / solution getting on the underside of the frame? How would you ensure all of it's cleaned off or is that even possible? Maybe it's worth paying extra to have it transported on a flat bed, but I defer to the forum's experts. Appreciate your thoughts.

Congrats and welcome to the exclusive Airstream world. Trailers that size are towed. The dealership doing the prep should give it a good wash and rinse. Keep in mind that that it is not your trailer until after it arrives at the dealership and you sign the final papers.

On order
We have also just placed an order. We were going to order the 25' flying cloud until we we saw a 28' flying cloud twin. Our new AS (which we have name Chrome dome) should be here first of February. We also are very excited to join the AS group.

We are looking forward to a spring delivery of our 30 ft Classic, due off the line late Feb. Already reserved our spot at Alumapalooza in June! Excited about lots of new adventures and friends.

Congratulations on your 23FB. We picked up our 23D in April and took it on two short shake out trips before taking it on a two month trek. If this is your first just get to know it and learn as much as you can about it and how it works. Get comfortable towing, backing and setting up and breaking down. Join the Local WBCCI and get to know other airstreamers around your area. Participate in your local rallies and even the nationals. Just have fun and enjoy your new home away from home.

Hide a key
One thing you definitely need to do is make a spare key and hide it somewhere you can have access to outside the camper. My kids closed the door hard on the way out and the door locked. Keys inside. This has happened a few times now.
When your door gets slammed shut my door lock will lock. 2004 34 ft triaxel

Congratulations! We love our 23' Airstream.
I suggest you get a copy of "The Newbies Guide to Airstreaming" by Rich Luhr to read while you are waiting for delivery (and to keep in the trailer). Some dealers give a copy to new buyers -- if they do, ask for it now, and if they don't then buy one. It is very informative, and fun too.

I believe Airstream provides the copy, not the dealer. It was in the factory documentation bundle along with all the manuals and the RV safety DVD course.
