26U w/Basecamp Table

When we bought our 26 last year we ordered the small table used in the Basecamp as coffee table. Here are a few pictures of it. Gives us a lot of options even on top of all the options the regular tables give you in the 26.

I see you added some cleats for the bed. Good idea if you need a bed.
I like the table idea. The 26U is so versatile.

Yes, I had to sleep on the dinette as a bed one night and promptly broke it. Granted I'm not small at 6'3" 260 lbs but still not sure how others are managing sleeping on that as a bed because two average size people would no doubt collapse it. Had these supports added and seems to be good to go now.

Brilliant, first time I have seen that option used. Curious, cost?

Wait - are you saying that due to inadequate wooden supports, the factory split dinette table will collapse if two adults try to sleep there?

I thought Airstream corrected that problem on the newer 26’s.

Yet Another Table

Made this a couple of weeks ago and it is quickly becoming our favorite.

Looks fantastic! Is the lettering laser cut or stenciled?

I see a business opportunity!

Hans627, it's stenciled. I painstakingly hand cut the letters from a stencil font downloaded and printed from the internet. I was going to go all out and have a pretty elaborate table top professionally made with inlaid darker wood, etc. but at a cost of nearly $300 dollars (from 2 quotes) I did this for about $25.

My understanding is that the cleats that support the table while in the bed position were simply screwed into the seat frame. The screws pulled out and the sleeper went on the floor. Airstream may have pictured this being the "kid's bed".
I would think a better solution would be to through bolt the cleats into the frame using machine screws and fender washers plus nuts. It would look the same yet be much stronger.

I love it!
I've been using the small half table and it's great for drinks, but poor for eating. Your idea also allows the round table to move to the other base for more elbow room.

Actually an oval table using both pedestals would be ideal but it would be a bear to make, so will make due with the assortment of tables I now have. Which I am VERY happy with.

Do the base camp tables lower to be used as supports for the bed? Or are the poles shorter? We bought an extra set of poles that I hope to have cut to a height that would act as added support for the table/brackets.

I am 5’4” so the table set too high for me to eat comfortably so we had the poles cut off.

We have a 2016 26U and love it. We also cut the table legs down to make it more useable. The table, however, when using only one of the two, wobbles like crazy. Tightening it into the base does not help. Any suggestions?

The Basecamp table legs are short. Didn't think about using them for the dinette bed support. Wonder if that would work? I think they may be just a little too tall for that.

We paid $40 dealer cost for two extra legs. Haven’t looked for someone to cut them off but it is on my list. I wish Airstream would have put in telescoping leg supports like the tables in the 23’! Would have been so much easier to adjust the height.

New table top for our Flying Cloud 26U. A close family friend of ours made this art by wood burning, then coloring with acrylic paint. Miranda put a part of her soul into this creation, and some of her spirit will travel with us wherever and whenever we tow our Airstream.Click image for larger version

Wow. Lots of work and great beauty right there! Is the top also heavily coated with clear material to protect all that from damage. Yo me, it looks like art for the wall, and I’d be afraid to stain it or scratch it.
