26u factory solar question

With the factory solar do you still get the zamp connector on the tongue? If so do you just connect ground panels to that to go to the existing charge controller?

If I am not thinking of this right, how would I use portable panels with the existing roof panels?

On my 23D, there was a zamp plug near the battery box on the tongue. It went directly to the batteries. I was told if I bought portable solar panels they would need a charge controller with it. Most come with it. I thought this was stupid and when I did my own solar upgrade, I made a new portable plug in the a frame that goes back to the solar charger.

No I only need to buy panels and plug them into the quick connect I installed on the a frame

We have a 26U and factory solar. The Zamp plug is still on the front, but I don't know about the charge controller. I haven't looked into that much yet since we don't boondock much right now and have a 4000w propane generator.

We have factory solar on our 27FB and have been very happy with the performance and capacity. We have not needed any additional power and have dry camped for 5 days many times. Water runs out but solar is always plenty to run fans, TVs, lights, etc. The 85amp/hr batteries never get below 12.3v. I carry a 55watt solar panel that has a charge controller and aligator clips to the battery but have not needed to use it.
