2019 26U Electrical Outlet Question

Hello,

Recently purchased 2019 26U, twin bed. I am not an electrician so I pose this question. In the twin bed area, only one electrical outlet for the television. The night stand as two USB ports, one on each side of the nightstand. I open the night stand drawer fully open and with the help of a flashlight observe two red wires and two white wires attach to one USB port and one white wire and one red wire attached to the other USB port. Is this normal? Should there be additional electrical outlet near the nightstand?

My guess is AS ran a single 12v feed from the fuse area to one side of the nightstand and then continued that power to the other side. Hence two wires on one side and a single on the other. That’s all normal.

Not sure of your question regarding the TV power. That’s a 120v outlet. On my FC25 there’s a shared 120v outlet above the nightstand, not sure on yours.

Thankyou for your reply concerning the USB port wires. To clarify, I only have 120 v outlet to the television. No other 120v outlet in the bedroom area or near the nightstand. Maybe they missed putting one in?

I believe that the one electrical television outlet has both shore and inverter power. We were looking at the 26 RB for a while. I think that you will find the same one outlet for the lounge television.

I doubt seriously that Airstream "missed putting one in." It sounds like they made a design decision not to install one.

When I bought my 2017 FC 23FB, I was aghast to learn that they didn't install ANY 12v outlets. We boondock a lot and I have stuff that charges/runs off of 12v power, as well as 120v power. I didn't want to have to use the extremely inefficient inverter for that stuff, so I installed a couple of 12v outlets in areas where they would be most useful. (They had abundant 5v outlets, but a lot of stuff requires more power than that.)

Installing 120v by the bed will not be as simple as installing 12v was.

Our 26u twin has a 120v outlet on the rear wall (street side) at the head of the bed. We plug our alarm clock in that outlet.

Hmmm. On the 2019 FC RBQ, in addition to the TV outlet, there are two more 120V outlets on either side of the queen bed in addition to USB outlets. Check the wiring from the outside storage cabinets - I have to think the trailer electrical harness is the same, but I could be wrong....often am.

Would it be possible to tap into the 12V USB plugs and add a 12V receptacle for a CPAP machine

Check the electrical diagram that is included in your owners manual.

Our 2017 26U twin has one located there as well. You may have to lift the mattress to see it.

Although I have the queen, I have a 120 outlet in the Magazine rack, adjacent to the wardrobe, and I think there's also one in the tiny nightstand near the rear corner.

More to the point, I downloaded the manual, and found the wiring diagram. Allegedly, beside the TV receptacle there's another outlet in the rear near center (side of the nightstand?)
K, P, and R are all 120 v. outlets.

electrical questions

I too, have wondered why the TV 120VAC outlets are singles. There is also a separate 120VAC inverter outlet. I don't know the rationale for this, but in order to put a clock on the wall in the bedroom, I had to get a duplex outlet to run both the TV and the clock. Same is true for the DVD, only one outlet each shore power, and inverter. Go figure.

Thankyou for your reply’s. Checked four different Airstream dealers that are selling 2019 26u twin beds. They all have 120 v outlet located over the nightstand. I looked everywhere, around the nightstand and no outlet. Maybe I have a super rare 26u Anyway, we ❤️ it!

While they are 5V USB plugs NOT 12V, there is "PROBABLY" 12 volt going to them which the USB plugs convert to 5V.

You would need to use a meter to make sure they are supplied with 12V.

"IF" they are, as long as your CPAP machine needs less then 15 amps it "should" work as long as Airstream didn't cheap out on the wiring. Airstream use to use 12 gauge wire and 20 amp fuses or breakers for most 12V wiring.

Interesting...I have an outlet directly above the end table between the twin beds.

What did your dealership say?

Good question. I completely missed it during the delivery walk through. Made appointment at the mothership. Interesting, one of the lady’s at the dealership stated they do not order many of the 26u, because nobody likes them. I love it for the versatility.

It reminds me of Casey Stengal's famous, "Nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded."
I'll admit the 25 is the bread and butter, but for those of us who distain dinettes, it's great.
