26 has more outside storage than any other airstream. Back to topic, ours has the ac outlet above the nightstand on the wall. usb ports are on each side of the night stand.

I only had a single outlet in my '89 and only one in my '96 Excella in the bedroom...royal pain when you need to charge your phone, run a lamp and a TV. These years did not have USB ports.Think AS just standardizes on one outlet. I plan to tap into the 120 supply visible in my closet and replace the 12V outlet mounted in the Closet Wall.

Depends. USB is 5V, not 12V, so you need to determine if the trailer wiring to the USB ports are at 12V and the conversion happens within or if there is only 5V going in. I do't know the short answer to that one.

2019 26U Electrical Outlet Question

Assuming that the USB plugs have sufficiently large wire feeding them from the fuse panel, it should be possible to connect a CPAP to the circuit. Just trace the wiring back behind the USB plug. It should be connected to a bigger set of wires probably 14 gauge that goes to the fuse. Tap the CPAP connector wires into that point. That way you get enough current available. Typical USB plugs only draw one amp and have very small wires coming out of them.

Check polarity carefully. The Airstream 12 volt wires are usually a pair with a colored wire for positive and a white wire for negative. If you are not sure, check with a multimeter or find an experienced person to help.

"Would it be possible to tap into the 12V USB plugs and add a 12V receptacle for a CPAP machine"

Almost certainly yes. When I got my 2017 International 27FB, I was shocked to find that it had no 12 V outlets at all--just USB ports. Well, I have a dozen or more devices, including a CPAP, that need 12 V rather than USB's 5 V. So I immediately pulled out all the USB outlets and replaced them with standard 12 V sockets.

This was easy, because Airstream's USB ports were mounted in round 1-1/8" holes--the same size as 12V cigarette-lighter-style outlets--and had 12V wiring going to spade lugs on their back sides. Once I gained access to the back of each USB port, all I had to do was pull off the two wires, unscrew the retaining ring and pull out the USB port. Then I substituted a 12V outlet (I used Blue Sea brand outlets) and put the wires on its lugs, being sure to get polarity correct: positive in the center.

What about my USB devices? Easy solution: 12V plug-in USB adapters that can charge multiple devices simultaneously, and do it faster and "smarter" than the cheap ones Airstream installed.

I had a tough decision when we decided to move away from the 23D. We probably walked through the 27FB and 26U about six or seven times each before narrowly picking the 27FB. To this day, I think we would have been just as happy in the 26U, and I really loved the seating area in the 26U.

Outstanding!
Why Airstream decided we suddenly needed 10 USB ports and NO 12v. ports is astounding.
You can even buy combo ports that use one set of 12v. wires and have a pair of charge ports, a 12v. lighter plug, and a voltmeter.

Missing?

Call Airstream and ask. Off topic but our new 19 - 25 front bedroom. We kept looking for the remote solar plug. It was never installed. Maybe your interior outlet was missed? I’ve got a appointment with the mother ship in April for a warped door they will install it then.

QUOTE=Markum;2217256]Thankyou for your reply’s. Checked four different Airstream dealers that are selling 2019 26u twin beds. They all have 120 v outlet located over the nightstand. I looked everywhere, around the nightstand and no outlet. Maybe I have a super rare 26u Anyway, we ❤️ it![/QUOTE]

Soething else to know...my CPAP machine by ResMed is 24V, not 12V. I found a setp-up converter with enough amps to run my machine at Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EFUHFW6...v_ov_lig_dp_it

In a 1983 Prowler I once owned, while doing some repairs, I found a 120 v outlet that was wired up and ready to go except that it had been paneled over. Mistakes do happen. Well, not on Airstreams, but then our sewer tanks don't smell ether.

At least in my '17, the USB ports are supplied by normal 12V wiring. I had to replace one because the cheapie that Airstream installed slagged when I plugged 2 devices into it at once.

I've considered setting up a 12v-24v converter for my Resmed CPAP machine but so far I've just used the inverter. I run an extension cord to the TV's inverter-supplied outlet when boondocking, and otherwise plug into the 120v outlet that's just to the street-side of the nightstand on our 26U twin.

Assuming your AS is still under factory warranty, I recommend you reach out to the factory to determine if a 120 VAC outlet should have been installed. Send an email to customer.relations@airstream.com. Make sure you include the VIN of your trailer. Good luck.

Hello....On my 2016 26U twin..there is an electrical outlet on the back wall of the left side bed as you face forward. It's down low, so if you don't move the pillow out of the way, you might not see it. But it's there. I've had the top off the night stand and if I remember correctly, the wires for the electrical outlet have nothing to do with the nightstand. I assume the wires run between the 2 aluminum skins.

Using the last six digits of my vin number. I have found 2019 26u , built before my vin and built after my vin number to have the 120 v outlet located above the nightstand. I have taken the mattresses out and no outlet anywhere. Anyway made appointment at the mothership for this, along with a few adjustments to be made to doors. We love this Airstream, I keep finding hidden compartments under the lounge seats.

Like the looks of this outlet combo. Do you have any source information?

IMHO nothing mounted in a sleeping area should have lights on it. That outlet combo will look like a Christmas tree at night.

To each their own. I did full tours on five different ships during my Navy career. Sleeping with noise and lights is not a problem... to me it’s more comforting than silence and blackness.[emoji846]

there are many new outlets that have two 110V 15A plus two USB connectors.
some also have no phantom power when the USB outlet is not used, i.e. the USB door closes and shuts off DC power

we replaced most of the 110V outlets with the dual USB and 110V combo units

Yup. Nothing quite so concerning when you lose all power and steam in the middle of the night on the USS Ranger on Yankee Station in the GOT. Never woke up so fast to totally deafening silence. And it didn’t help that all of our emergency diesel generators failed to start. I’m rather sure the Engineering boss had a tough time ‘splaining that one.

No propulsion, no radar, nothing but eyeballs, binoculars and walkie-talkies for the duration. Fortunately the sea was calm, and one of our escorts was eventually able to come alongside and literally give us a shore power jump start.

I imagine the “pucker factor” on our bridge was out of sight...and not much better on the ship that came alongside.

To OSU's question about the CPAP. Certainly check the manual. However, I did tap the 12V lines to the USB port for my rearview camera. It has worked fine.
I might say, I think this is a much better solution than tapping a tail-light. However, it took some contortions to reach that iddy-biddy wire inside that table.
Thanks,
