Soething else to know...my CPAP machine by ResMed is 24V, not 12V. I found a setp-up converter with enough amps to run my machine at Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EFUHFW6...v_ov_lig_dp_it

In a 1983 Prowler I once owned, while doing some repairs, I found a 120 v outlet that was wired up and ready to go except that it had been paneled over. Mistakes do happen. Well, not on Airstreams, but then our sewer tanks don't smell ether.

At least in my '17, the USB ports are supplied by normal 12V wiring. I had to replace one because the cheapie that Airstream installed slagged when I plugged 2 devices into it at once.

I've considered setting up a 12v-24v converter for my Resmed CPAP machine but so far I've just used the inverter. I run an extension cord to the TV's inverter-supplied outlet when boondocking, and otherwise plug into the 120v outlet that's just to the street-side of the nightstand on our 26U twin.

I open the night stand drawer fully open and with the help of a flashlight observe two red wires and two white wires attach to one USB port and one white wire and one red wire attached to the other USB port. Is this normal? Should there be additional electrical outlet near the nightstand?

Assuming your AS is still under factory warranty, I recommend you reach out to the factory to determine if a 120 VAC outlet should have been installed. Send an email to customer.relations@airstream.com. Make sure you include the VIN of your trailer. Good luck.

Hello....On my 2016 26U twin..there is an electrical outlet on the back wall of the left side bed as you face forward. It's down low, so if you don't move the pillow out of the way, you might not see it. But it's there. I've had the top off the night stand and if I remember correctly, the wires for the electrical outlet have nothing to do with the nightstand. I assume the wires run between the 2 aluminum skins.

Using the last six digits of my vin number. I have found 2019 26u , built before my vin and built after my vin number to have the 120 v outlet located above the nightstand. I have taken the mattresses out and no outlet anywhere. Anyway made appointment at the mothership for this, along with a few adjustments to be made to doors. We love this Airstream, I keep finding hidden compartments under the lounge seats.

You can even buy combo ports that use one set of 12v. wires and have a pair of charge ports, a 12v. lighter plug, and a voltmeter.

Like the looks of this outlet combo. Do you have any source information?

IMHO nothing mounted in a sleeping area should have lights on it. That outlet combo will look like a Christmas tree at night.

To each their own. I did full tours on five different ships during my Navy career. Sleeping with noise and lights is not a problem... to me it’s more comforting than silence and blackness.

there are many new outlets that have two 110V 15A plus two USB connectors.
some also have no phantom power when the USB outlet is not used, i.e. the USB door closes and shuts off DC power

we replaced most of the 110V outlets with the dual USB and 110V combo units

Yup. Nothing quite so concerning when you lose all power and steam in the middle of the night on the USS Ranger on Yankee Station in the GOT. Never woke up so fast to totally deafening silence. And it didn’t help that all of our emergency diesel generators failed to start. I’m rather sure the Engineering boss had a tough time ‘splaining that one.

No propulsion, no radar, nothing but eyeballs, binoculars and walkie-talkies for the duration. Fortunately the sea was calm, and one of our escorts was eventually able to come alongside and literally give us a shore power jump start.

I imagine the “pucker factor” on our bridge was out of sight...and not much better on the ship that came alongside.
