2019 25FB Twin Pricing

Found this today at a local dealer. Has the solar option and the extra rear and "other side" awnings. They say it lists at $93,500, and have offered it for $79k. Is this a decent, good, or great deal? This would be our first RV ever... Also, I'm told I should buy anti-sway hitch, (I will tow with an F-150 EcoBoost 3.5L Supercab), fan covers, and will have to buy the stuff to outfit the kitchen, etc.

I welcome your opinions!

I can't help with much advice on the pricing, but to me is seems a bit on the high side. Ask the dealer to INCLUDE the hitch and weight distribution bars in the deal for sure.

Regarding your truck, have you checked the towing capacity, payload, GCVW, and all of that? I ask because your 3.5 L sounds a bit smaller than what might be a good fit for the 25. So I recommend you carefully review all of the towing figures. Make sure you read up so you understand both payload and towing capacity and be sure you are not maxing out on either.

Go for it

Last year I bought a 2017 International 25 FB. Had a list price of $94K. I paid $79K with Blue Ox hitch and bike rack included. I was happy with the deal and still am.
I have a F150 Supercrew with the 3.5L engine and it works great with this 25FB.

You'll enjoy this rig, and the forward bedroom is a great layout because when are having a meal or a libation you'll be looking at the view, and not your tow vehicle.

Does your F150 have the max tow package? I tow a 25 RB twin and have 1750 payload rating. I’ve measured the tongue weight and fully ready is about 850 lbs. As a TV it does terrific and I average a bit better than 11 mpg. Zooms uphill with no issues.

Speaking of tongue weight, we have measured the tongue weight of our loaded 2018 25FBT over 1000 pounds. The total weight of the trailer was a bit over 6700 pounds. The front bed model tends to have greater tongue weight than the rear, and definitely higher than the published figure.

Davo, conventional wisdom here seems to suggest a 20% discount off MSRP should be achievable, but I haven't priced any lately. Get an on-line price from RVOne, a dealer with stores in Tampa and Orlando, among others. You don't have buy from them, but it's a really easy way to sample low, on-line pricing. Just google rvone.com

Just to get the math right, that's 20% off MSRP of the trailer, plus 100% of shipping cost.

For 79K your hitch should be included. If it is, then try to negotiate a few K more off off that, or maybe extended warranty. I bought a 2016 FC RBT, had the full awning package, backup camera (optional then), and an equalizer hitch for 70K. For about 76 - 77K I'd go for it. Unfortunately prices are going up fast.

25' Airstream & F150

My F150 4x4 Ecoboost with tow package has towed my 25' RB Twin FC for over 25,000 miles just fine. As far as the price thats seems reasonable in todays market. As others have said you might try to get them to through in the hitch and weigh distribution with purchase. Good luck

Ditto RVOne. Their competitive bid is how we got ours for 21% off. This time of year you should be able to get to 20%+ off MSRP especially if you are okay ordering a trailer for delivery in Jan/Feb. Buying one off the lot means you are paying the dealer’s carrying expenses so it may be hard to get as good a deal.

I got nowhere in my negioations until I had competitive bids.

Yes you will need a WD hitch. We bought our Blue Ox hitch on Amazon and the dealer installed it at no charge when we picked up the trailer. Our F150 3.5 Eco pulls ‘25 great but our 1,700 payload rating puts it close to the edge with three people and gear in the bed. Check your payload rating before assuming it will be fine. Some higher trim models of the F150 can be as low as 1,200 pounds. That wouldn’t be good.

Some have upgraded the shocks to tone down the porpoising. I installed Air Bags which did the trick as well.

The summer, RV season is over. You should be able to buy any AS on the lot for 20% off, which on a $93.5K item is $74.8K.

Kind of Deal

Full 20% off or buy from some other dealer. We purchased with full 20% off with Equalizer included and no additional shipping charge. Call Nick at Colonial Airstream. Yes, you may have to travel to get your Airstream, but that is what is all about. Make a nice trip out of it. Make sure your spend at least one if not two nights at selling dealer to make sure everything works and they fix anything that does not. Welcome to the Airstream world.

Yes, towing capacity is usually fine with F150’s. The catch is the payload capacity which translates into how much tongue weight, people, and associated junk you can carry. A loaded FC25 can easily put 1000lbs of payload on your truck, maybe more with the black/grey tanks full (fresh is over the axles.) Add a few people, a generator, BBQ, etc and that and you can see how it adds up. When it’s just the wife and I we do fine with our F150 and FC25 and the truck’s 1,860 pound payload. Starting adding another person and we have to be more careful about extra gear we bring.

There will be a sticker on your driver’s door jam that lists “Tire and Loading Information.”

We just picked up our 2018, 25 ft Flying Cloud twin for 30% off MSRP with a Weight Dist hitch included. We have a F 150 3.5 (2016) with a towing package and just pulled the AS 6000 miles in the mountains with no problems. MPG was between 9.5 and 12 MPG. My AS scaled out at 6,600 lbs with a full tank of water.

Would you please tell us which dealership you bought your unit from, and did you buy it off the lot or did you order it?

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

First off, welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

As to your questions, the price you are offering is 16% below MSRP. This is a decent deal, but maybe not dynamite. You are trying to purchase one of the most popular Airstream models with the most popular options.

Yes, you will definitely need a quality weight distribution/sway control hitch system. Also, your tow vehicle will need a trailer brake controller.

We have had two 25FB's over the years. It's a great floor plan. We are avid Airstreamers with over 1,900 nights of Airstream camping and 180,000 miles of Airstream towing. We have been Airstreaming for over twelve years.

Brian

That is an astounding deal if the trailer is brand new. If the trailer was new that would be below dealer cost.

30% off would be spectacular, especially if new. Did that dealer have another one ???? I'd drive a long way to get that!

Thanks to all who have replied so far. I'm actually thinking more about the 26 or 27 because of the U-shaped seating area and the removable tables. Seems like a better fit for socializing.

And, yes, my F-150 has the tow package w/ trailer brake. I think it would handle a 27, though that would probably be the limit...
