Jerry, thanks. I'll have to note that for the next trip This was the "Let's Wing it tour (No Resies) ~ Spuds & Suds tour 1.0 so we rolled into town and there was a vintage boat show... Needless to say all was booked so we went for OmaK/Okanagon (a bust compared to Chelan IMO) up the road at the Casino (which was nice). Chelan I had heard of and of course wine is always on our .

Thanks for the tip tho. We tasted at Rock Wall (Omak) and it was pretty good...followed many of themenu varieties we find in Paso Robles. I'll have to check out Ft. Casey on the map. I've been on the rock once and a HS friend lives there at the N end.

Happy Trails

p.s.Tomorrow it is Baker City. My Cousin used to live there. Her email was imcold@ and his was getwood@. Supposed to be 25 tomorrow night.

We’re OTRA! We’re not Peter, we’re on the road again! Currently in Mark Twain NF at Wapapello SP. Making our way, eventually, to Big Bend in Texas. Stopping to see friends and relatives along the way. Next stop will probably be Hot Springs. I’ll post some pictures soon...

Glad you are OTRA Darrell! Big Bend sounds like a great destination. If you have any suggestions for Alan [TravlinMan] he is headed that way after New Year's:

Great shots Darrell, thanks! Did you go into Blanchard Cavern? I believe there are some pretty spectacular caves in that area. Have fun!

Everyone should visit Carlsbad Caverns once too IMO. They have an optional side tour to a lesser cave, turn off all the lights, and ask everyone to be silent.

. . . all while being many hundreds of feet underground . . .

The dark silence defies description in words.

Great tip Peter, thanks! We're thinking of a spring training/New Mexico (maybe Texas) add before our Paso Zin fest dates in 2018.

A couple of thoughts for CC and the SW deserts . . .

CC has a kennel for dogs, but you have to make reservations as I recall. Not sure about leaving the dogs in the AS for a couple of hours -- they may have a rule against that, even if the weather is OK.

Also, about the SW deserts in general --

You may have discovered this already in eastern OR and WA, but the deserts can be challenging for dogs' feet we found. In some spots there were tiny burrs or seed pods blown by the wind, which ended up on the ground everywhere. Our dog would not leave the trailer after the first burr got stuck in between her paw pads. [edit -- removing that burr was another story . . . ]

We had to fashion some last-minute booties for her, out of an automotive chamois cloth which we got in a dept. store at our first stop on the way west. After she got used to the booties, all was fine. There may be commercial booties available?

Another stop we hope to make in the future, . . . after life stops getting in the way of the next CalDream trip . . . . . . , is the Grand Canyon. In spite of over a dozen cross-country trips, I have never seen the GC.

Have a good weekend.

Peter

PS -- Do you have your federal lifetime Senior Passes yet? They offer discounts on most admissions to federal sites, with or without the trailer:

https://www.nps.gov/planyourvisit/se...ss-changes.htm

The easiest way IMO is to get them when you are at one of the sites. For instance, on my recent solo trip to FDR's Hyde Park, the pass resulted in greatly reduced admission and tours. Unfortunately the cost just went up from $10 to $80!

Peter, thanks, great advice on the dogs/kennels/AS etc. We too had a burr problem in Clarkson/Lewistion along a paved bike path...Frogs Heads according to someone walking by in the know. I've seen booties and that's a great idea. Used to see them all the time backpacking on the Sierra granite, but forgot about them.

There is a local office in Springfield so we got our pass a few months ago for $10....thanks forum posters! Woo Hoo

I have been to the GC but was 6 or so. I only really remember Las Vegas and looking down the road to the city and Hoover Dam... looking up at the top after the turbine tour. We too would like make it.

The Airstream batteries were fully charged in about two hours (we have intense sunlight in Colorado!!). The unit folds up and stores in it's own case and only weighs about 26 pounds. Thought I would share it with you folks. I am boondocking this coming weekend and wanted to be prepared, thus the test this weekend.
Steve are you still happy with this Renogy charger? I see they have a new Eclipse line with different charging cells, which is lighter [20 lbs] and sold as Re-conditioned only apparently:

Even the Renogy website does not show any New versions as available.

Hmmm . . . ?

Thanks,

Peter

PS -- Edit -- Bad 10/29/17 review on Eclipse line, being pulled off market:

PS2 -- Thanks Bob.
