The black accent looks cool up close, but it "weakens" the look from a distance in my opinion -- makes the silver casting look thinner on the edges of the "spokes," and thus flimsy-looking, again in my opinion

Very nice, any problems getting the new size wheel tire combination into the wheel well?

Rear window modification.
Ok I finally made the time to meet with C&G Airstream in Bellflower Ca today and he is going to order the parts required to install the curb side arm on the rear window on our 2012 to prop it up so I won't have to use my bike handle foam pads. I'll report back when it is finished. He had given me an estimate of 125 to do the job, everything included. I'll also have the wheel bearings packed at the same time while there.

Good news, thanks! Great price IMO, esp. if that includes a new screen panel inside, with the slot for the operator handle to stick through.

We also had our FC20 into the shop recently for a bearing repack/seals plus brake inspection, a year after purchase. A-OK all around, plus the auto detailer next door washed and waxed the whole thing at the same time. Nice!

The shop confirmed that the rear window mod is do-able, and is going to give us a price to do it, plus to install two new operable windows as discussed here recently, in the head, and in the galley over the counter next to the fridge. [to replace the 4 fixed glass units in the 2 locations.] Price TBD.

The shop was north of White Plains, so I opted to take the ferry from Port Jefferson Long Island to Bridgeport CT, and head north from there. Driving around NYC via the bridges and crowded roads there is a drag IMO, making the ferry cost-effective, for this aging driver at least. $136 each way.

Hoping to get in one more trip to Hither Hills SP before winterizing, and maybe a short trip south after Election Day. TBD

Happy Trails to all, and hope the PT is going well Bob.

Glad to hear that the window mods (rear) are cost effective. It's nice to be able to open the rear window and get the breeze going through. I will be curious to see the look of the window replacements on the sides as well.

I installed the trickle charger last weekend and it's keeping the batteries topped off just fine. It has a setting for above and below 50 degrees and it fits inside the battery compartment just fine.

Thanks Peter, I got clearance yesterday @ PT to put the crutches in storage so it's a cane for all mobility. I'm already moving short distances in the house sans cane so progress is very good .

The ferry price seems reasonable. Anacortes to Orcas was about $220 (RT). Actually any price would probably be worth not having to drive drive the the metro city area.

I'm optimistic I'll be driving by early November and we're thinking of a weekender to 7 Feathers S of Roseburg. Its a casino, and we're not gamblers but has great food and it has a nice RV park with an indoor heated indoor pool & Jacuzzi...some much needed R & R before I'll have to winterize likely mid to late November. Plans for a Jan trip to Pismo are also on the table...can't wait.

Be well everybody!

Bob

Subfan1 ditto peter's comment...great price.

Steve did you go with that charger you mentioned in the other thread? And did you hook it up per your No. 2 below, which I assume your battery store confirmed?

Have you turned the trailer's Use/Store switch to Store?

Thanks,

Peter

PS -- Good to hear about your progress Bob!

Peter - Yes, I did go with the NOCO G7200. I checked at the store I bought it at as well as corresponded with the manufacturer and others here on the forum. It can be either hooked up on the same battery and will charge both or be hooked up to the positive on one battery and the negative on the other. I ended up doing the second method. Either way works as long as the batteries are wired in parallel. Now that I have winterized and hooked up the charger, we have had unseasonably warm temperatures (nearly 90 forecasted for today) but I am prepared if old man winter blows in. And, you never know in Colorado. It can be 80 degrees one day and 20 the next day, this time of year.

Enjoy the sun while you can. We are having a 4 day cyclone run in the PNW. Good news all the eaves will be down by Sunday!

Welcome Peg!!

The 20 FC's are beautiful Airstreams and just the right size. No worrying about getting into smaller spaces and the floorplan is great!

Many Happy Trails to You!

Congratulations and welcome Peg, you'll love your 20. I love it, your first post is on the 20 footers thread. It is a long thread but contains a lot good info and tips.

Microwave and ducted air in the 20'

Looked at a new '20 and loved everything about it other than my wife wants a microwave, and this one had oven only. Can you get them in that model or is it oven only? It looks like the perfect size for weekend camping. Also is ducted air better in a trailer of this size or is it better on larger ones? I can save 10k buying a used '14 over a new one but it is pretty far to get it so I may just go with the '17.

Welcome to the forum and 20-footer thread!

I believe most new models have the microwave, not the gas oven.

Good luck!
