PS Kittyfeet -- Don't forget to compare the windows of all the smaller trailers. The FC20 has great full-opening screened windows, hinged on top, whereas many of the other small trailers like the Sport have large fixed glass panels, with dinky little sliding 1/2 windows underneath. No way these would provide any ventilation in Texas, forcing one to rely on air conditioning all the time, and thus either being hooked up to electric or a genset. Also, being hinged on top, the FC20 windows do a pretty fair job of shedding light rain and mist when lowered to almost-closed, all the while permitting some cross-ventilation in concert with the two skylights.
Cheers,
Peter

No regrets on my end. Specially when buying tires.

I have done the conversion along wth lots of other folks. I put on the sendel rims, michelin tires, centramatics and a TMPS system. I feel much safer towing with this set up knowing that I have weight capacity to spare.
The biggest drawback to this system is that the Michelin tires require 80 PSI, and most gas station air pump don't go that high. My solution is a high performance air pump, I purchased the VIAIR 300P portable compressor and have been very very pleased with it.

Thanks for the confirmation. Could you please post the full specs of your Michelin tires or maybe a photo of the sidewall stamp?
Thanks,
Peter

Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions. She has decided on the 20. First thing I am going to do is change the wheels and tires to 16". Will probably get the ProPride WD and SC. It will be a little while before she is ready to "hit the road" so will have ample time to get everything in order. Grandpa may make the first trip with her just to make sure everything is ok. Really appreciate all help.
Safe travels everyone.

Unfortunately my airstream is in storage and I can't remember the exact tire size.
However you can search here on air forums and you will find it. Should be fairly straightforward.

Ok, I was able to swing by my airstreams storage place and took a picture of the numbers on the tire. See below.
Looks like a Michelin LTX M/S2 in size LT225/75 R16
Hope that helps.

Well, we escaped the great white north and are now in Hamilton Branch State Park outside of Modoc, South Carolina. Soooo great to be camping again! This is a wonderful campground which we're sharing with three other campers. On to Anastasia in Florida tomorrow.

I've been promising pictures of my mods and now that we're with our AS again, here you go...
Float pole light installation. Used Sandlappers idea of a landscape light as they are 12v. It's wired to the light switch on the electric tongue jack.
This are the new billet aluminum plugs to replace the city water and black water flush plugs.
And here are few shots of my custom mount for the hitch receiver for the rear bike rack.

Where did you get those plugs. I think I need to get some myself.

Good news! Thanks for the photos of improvements also.
Right now it is snowing here and we are supposed to get 6-8" today and maybe more in a day or two . . . yuck.
Happy Trails!

Just W of Lompoc...Holy #@$% 14 miles off 101 to get just short of Lompoc, CA...then another 14 miles due west...a buddy from Tehema who surfs Refugio each new year warned me. The drive up and down the 4 passes down to Jalama was worth it. [ Peter...bucket list for Cal/Dream 16/17...plan fr a coupe 3 days min]
The first pic is just south of Rincon/Carpenteria. Pt. Conception is off in the distance...Jalama Beach is just around the point & adjacent to Vandenburg AFB.
2nd pic: Pulled up next to a sweet 28 Int. and some friendly AS'rs. Turns out it was their maiden voyage (see ModernVista #471) and they had just swapped out their 20' for a new 28'. Small world indeed. I thought the thread sounded familiar.
Blown out the day we arrived, but the next morning...winds from the east
: ))))....tubular (last pic) ....note the vintage AS...I suspect it's there for the duration.

Nice pic! We love the 28' but still have love for the 20! She took us to great places. Wish we could have stayed longer at Jalama!
Happy travels

Yup, that clean tube was the first thing my eyes moved to -- nice!
Thanks for the photos, and glad the trip is working out. Going back north may be hard . . . I forget what is your itinerary from here? Can you picture a longer trip in the FC20 with the dogs, or did the 28' whet your appetite for more room?
Thanks for the CalDream reminder -- difficult to imagine here this morning. Our air temp is -4 F! Up to 50 F by Wednesday they say. Hoping to get in a short trip south after a new family member arrives in March.
Happy Trails to all . . .

Chris, thanks and HT's to you all too! We're looking forward to those following those blue highways! We're thinking of Washington/Stl in the fall to visit family and explore.

Thanks for the pictures, I didn't realize that Jalama had hookups?
Great looking place, enjoy your stay!
