Sorry for the delay. You may have figured this out already, but in our 2014 the plastic cover plate is just held on by friction at a few small tabs. A fingernail slipped under the edge is all it takes to free it.

Another handy tool set is one of the body panel removal tools. Search for "body panel tool kit" on amazon. There are sets of plastic, non-marring tools for safely disassembling darn near anything inside a vehicle.

Not real pricey, but sure beats the heck out of using putty knives, screwdrivers, etc for prying stuff loose...

Thanks for the help Peter and rmkrum. I removed the covers and outlets and installed the stick on back splash that my wife picked out today. Much better look than the border strip that was there. Will post pictures soon.
