Regarding the bed lift, google Hatchlift Heavy Bedlift Kit. Then go to You Tube and search for RV Bed Lift. I am planning on installing a lift kit on my bed this spring. Does anyone know if a piano hinge (or other type) is needed at the front wall of the bed or if the bed should just lift on it's own without a hinge?
Also, I absolutely love my 20FC. If I were ever to go to another size it would be the 23D for me.

Greetings Steve! I don't think the ply for the bed platform will lift easily, as one piece, so you might have to cut out a smaller "door" to lift, and that would work better if the forward edge were hinged IMO.
You might get away with lifting the entire piece, without a hinge, but I think more careful planning would be a good idea. Maybe check it out, after removing the mattress, and see if that large piece of ply will lift enough, or will it bind on the upholstery L/R? That mattress is pretty heavy too . . . IMO.
I would go outside and check ours, but I have a bunch of stuff on the bed right now, and it is pouring out!
Please let us know what you find.
Peter

Has anyone ever converted their bed to a tilt-up? I'm going to have to take a look this morning and see if that might be possible. That would be a great modification if it could be done.[/QUOTE]
I'd like to know that too! and another reason for me that I decided I couldn't use a 23' is that the one dining area window can't be open if the door is open. Guarantee I'd break that window within a few weeks of use because I forgot it was open.

PS Steve, check this post in that new thread for possible tweaks, so that the bed platform ply lifts easily. This is what I was thinking about before. Have you had time to check it out, and come up with a plan?

Rebuilding the frame under the plywood was one of the most challenging aspects of the modification. I incorporated two 6 foot steel L-brackets above the drawer (bed box) because of the increased span between the vertical supports next to the bed box. It turned out to be extremely sturdy.

I will definitely keep track of the project and post pics when I do it. I am waiting for the social distancing to be relaxed so my neighbor and I can get together and work on the bed lift...... a few beers, some cussing and a project....it's what we do!!!

Hope you are doing OK with the virus, Darrell. FYI I have taken the liberty of quoting your great signature in this thread:

Getting ready to price our 2014 FC20 for sale. How is everyone feeling about how the virus situation may affect sale prices? Thanks for your earlier advice starting with Post #2750 on 1/29/20 [more or less pre-virus].
Thanks,
Peter

What price range . . .
Fire sale ~$25-30k? High end ~$30-35k?

You might be in better shape selling this year than you think Peter.

Robert, if you have sold the 20' would you mind posting the results? Appreciate it.
Thanks for everyone's updated feedback on the effects of the virus on sales prices. BTW if we don't get a good price, will probably hang on for a while.

I don't think the COVID-19 emergency should affect the price.

Thanks Robert. I missed your ad I guess:

A good asking price IMO.
I still need to R&D with the classifieds here, and with other sites like RV Trader etc..
Peter

I haven’t been active on this thread or Airforums in general recently. But wanted all of you on this thread to know that with heavy hearts we have just replaced our beloved 2011 20 ft Bambi Flying Cloud with a brand new 2019 25’ International Serenity. We’ll miss lots of the great attributes and upgrades we made to our 20, but now we embark on a new Airstream journey. I wanted you all to know that the knowledge and support gained from this thread has been a very important part of our great Airstream experience in the 20. Thanks! See you down the road!

Thanks for the update. We had a 25' a long time ago, and it is a great length for some serious long distance traveling IMO.

Any 20 footer owners in the Boaeman, MT area that can recommend a good source for service. Moved from Colorado and need to know who to trust for service, especially electrical. If you want to tell me who not to use, that would be helpful also and you can PM me that info as well. Centennialman was very helpful to me in Colorado and I thank you, man, for that help.

One avenue to explore is on the Portal page [grey tab at top left]:
https://www.airforums.com/
On the right edge of that page, there is a system for locating inspectors by state.
Good luck,
Peter
