My 2008 Safari 20fb is blowing a 20amp fuse (circuit 8) when ever I try to turn on my black/grey water tank heater. Fresh water tank heater seems to work fine. Anyone have any experience with this issue?

water filter replacement?

Hi fellow AS'ers... I have a 20ft Flying Cloud and we love it. There's a replacement water filter and I have no idea where it goes , so I can't change it. Does this model have a replaceable water filter???

Thanks!!!

Welcome to the forum and 20'-footer thread!

You might want to check your owner's manual, and AS briefcase for related paperwork on the filter. Our units are pretty small . . . if you don't see a water filter under the sink, or in the rear storage area under the sink, you probably don't have one. Did you buy your 20' new, or was there a prior owner?

Do the threads on the filter look like male/female hose threads? Or is it a simple cartridge one would insert into a larger filter housing?

Our box of misc. AS OEM supplies included an in-line hose filter, which one should always use when filling the water tank, and when hooked up to city water.

Good luck,

Peter

PS -- I am finally over the flu . . . . . . 3 weeks . . . . . . . . . thanks Steve.

Guessing a short circuit in that circuit. Above my pay grade to diagnose, but with the correct meter, you can ascertain short-circuits. We have never used our tank heaters, and our older trailer did not have them, so you can still have fun without it IMO!

Good luck,

Peter

Peter, hoping for the best with your medical issues. I believe a reasonable price to start would be around 40k give or take a little based on condition. We paid 38k for our 2013 in early '18.

A couple months a ago I asked if the tank heaters could be run while towing without running the batteries down. I just returned from a 13k mile cross-country trip and the answer is yes. I ran the tank heaters in the cold weather while towing for up to 12 hours and still arrived at the campsite with fully charged batteries.

Moobs, under the sink there should be a length of plumbing exactly the same length as the filter with a female fitting at both ends. Unscrew that length of pipe and replace it with the filter.

Thanks, I had been thinking of asking $39,500. Gonna get the rig summerized next month, and then hit a local campground with For Sale signs visible. Will check for that hose under the sink, maybe our OEM filter fits there too?

Filter

2nd SC. Ours is under the kit sink. OEM was the short section and filter in the box. We tossed ours a few years ago and simply use the section as permanent. That is a charcoal taste filter and we cook & drink with bottled water. We also utilize a Camco at the CW connection as well as a pressure reg with gauge. When i fill the FW tank, except at home, i use that filter.

Rammonte, i have a switch for each heater, so my wiring diagram is different. Maybe touch bases with JC, and they can email you the diagram. Ele diagnosis is my week link.

My owners manual says the filter is under the microwave behind the drawer. But, I did not find any filter. I use the replaceable blue filters attached to the outside between hose and intake on side of the trailer.

Happy Travels,
Alison

The filter referred to in the manual is the water pump's pre-filter, between the water tank and the pump. Those of us who winterize every year have to remove/clean that wire mesh filter, and make sure there is no water left in it.

We also use an inline filter in the water hose, as does Bob, both for filling the water tank, and for the city water supply.

Peter

PS -- Nice Road2Reinvention blog! I guess you are in Florida, Alison, so no winterization needed for your pump?

. . . Happy Trails . . .

Peter....glad to hear that you are over the flu! Still so sorry to hear that you are planning on selling your Airstream. IMHO, I would start in the mid 40's. In this economy, considering what model it is and the time of year you will list it, I can't imagine it will take very long for it to sell.

I hope we don't lose you here on the forums!

Thanks Peter! I figured a short circuit is likely. We are certainly still having lots of fun with out it. [emoji846]

Maybe start with the easy. Pull the switch and check for continuity...maybe push/crimp the connections. Easier than at the other end.

Plus as others have said...no big deal. We only use ours when the temps push thru 30. Push to shove, empty the tanks if things dip....don't underestimate effects of wind chill.
