Unfortunately I don't have the bike rack with the trailer right now.

But here is a picture of the mounts and a picture of the same rack on a different trailer. Note the mounts on my TB are in a different location.

That generator sure fits there nicely! Simple and easy mount. Do you ever run the generator in place, or do you put it on the ground when running?

I do both. The rip cord has a short piece of plastic wire protector wrapped around it to prevent it from retracting all of the way. This allows it to be reached and pulled when the generator is in place. Its easy to run without taking it down. I also have the short electrical cord that you can see in the pics to make it more convenient. If I want more noise reduction, I can take it down and put it on the edge of the forest and use my shore power cord with dog bone.

How much noise and vibration does it transmit when mounted? Doesn't look like there's much provisions NVH isolation but those probably could be easily added (like a rubber mat on the battery cover, and rubber grommets on the pegs)

I don't notice any vibration noise. With the windows closed and the A/C running, you can't really hear it at all. The generator still has its rubber feet to help isolate vibration. With it running if I stand outside beside the generator, I still don't hear any vibration noise.

That's awesome. So it's all simpler than I imagined in my mind to have a workable solution.

I'm also considering putting stainless steel panels, riveted to the propane cover on a piano hinge, to hide the Honda generator. Much like the stainless rock guards on the AS. We'll see if I ever get enough time to fabricate this.

Much thanks for the pics!

Great idea with the steel panels.

One last observation I have made. If its raining, I can open the 'rock shield' awning above and it protects the generator from water while its running. The rest of the time I have the Honda silver cover on it.

Do you have an EasyStart 364 installed in your AC unit for use running the AC with just the Honda 2000?

My EasyStart is still sitting in the box waiting to be installed. I have been running the AC and charger from the Honda 2000 with no issues. No clunks or noises when the AC starts up either.

I still plan on installing the EasyStart later this month.

Question on the TB Flooring

We picked up our 27FB Tommy Bahama last week and spent four days in it over the weekend. We couldn't be happier with it. Coming from an Island Breeze 23D, we notice many improvements for how we use the camper.

We ordered the trailer with the exact options we wanted (manual awning, propane oven, backup camera etc...). I had another excellent experience at Can-Am RV in London, Ontario and appreciated the time that Andy spent making sure my Sprinter 4x4 was setup for towing perfectly. We did stay over at the dealer to make sure there were no issues. I asked them to replace one blind (it looked like a string was pinched in manufacturing) and adjust the bathroom door handle. They took care of it right away in the morning. So far, everything else is perfect. Can-Am installed a Honda 2000 over the battery, 200 watts of solar and a bike rack on the back.

I'm happy to answer any questions a prospective Tommy Bahama buyer may have. We don't really notice all of the branding and find the interior very warm and calming.

A few pics attached.

Sean
Hi Sean!

Newbie here. As others have said, beautiful trailer & setting! I really like the looks of the TB and working to convince the better half. She likes almost everything about this model except the flooring. It appears like it would be very difficult to clean if it were to get muddy. We camp with two labs so there is always a lot of dirt tracked in! Can you comment on how it is to maintain the floor? Thanks!

Just in case it is helpful for someone else with a tandem here is a picture of the carrier modified to carry one.

We took ours to California and back last year on this one.

Would it be possible to provide a photo of the bike rack on the TB hatch and include the name and model of the manufacturer?

Bike Rack

Here are the only pics I have of the bike rack. The brand is Arvika.

Sorry for the slow response. We don't find the flooring difficult to clean but we don't have dogs and haven't really brought in mud. It is vinyl so shouldn't stain but there is some texture that may make it harder. Sand and dirt sweep out easily.

Thanks, appreciate the follow up.
Have you noticed road dust/grime being an issue?
Is it correct to assume the hatch brackets carry the weight and the bumper brackets are stabilizing the rack.
I checked out the Arvika tongue rack - not a solution. Do you have a model number for the rear mount?

You would have to check with canamrv.ca for the model. They customize the mount pieces with ZipDee Awning parts. It seems like the bumper takes more weight than the hatch but I can't tell for sure.

Haven't really noticed much grime buildup. Its a lot better than when the bikes are directly on the back of my Sprinter.

As mentioned in our other thread (we asked for feedback on TB 27' options), here are our questions:

--What brand of solar panels did CanAm install? Have you been satisfied with their performance?

--Have you found 200W of solar adequate for your boondocking needs in general? (I realize there will be times that the generator is the only viable option).

--The photo of the generator on the front fork shows it plugged into the front of the trailer. Custom installed plug? I don't see one of those on stock TB 27' photos.

--What about the weight of the generator on the front fork - in relation to exceeding max recommended hitch weight? Are you offsetting it by deliberately putting more weight in the rear while towing? Does it matter? (Someone asked a similar question earlier in this thread, but I didn't see a reply).

Thanks,
Rick

One more thing: Once we decide which California dealer we'll buy from, do you mind if we show/send them the photos of the generator mounting plate and bike rack setup?

Regarding that plug on the front of the trailer - Newer trailers with 30a service are coming with a generator plug on the forward part of the trailer. I know this is true of the longer models (27’ up), not sure on the shorter models (or 19’ TB). 50a models do not include this plug.

Good to know, thanks! We'll make sure to inquire about this feature when we place our TB 27 order.
