Speculation time: will AS release a new 34' Classic?

What do you think the odds are that AS will release a 34' Classic in the next couple of years?

What about a 34' with a Slide Out?

I would be (nearly) full timing, and the design/specifications of the new Classic are right up my alley! Just hoping for a bit more space...

I've looked at 90's/2000's 34 footers with Slide Outs...but the redesigned Classic + 34ft with a Slide would be a dream come true, and definately worth waiting for : )

As well as Airstream are selling these days, it wouldn't surprise me if they came out with a new 34. The slide would be another matter. They may not want to get into that.

In my opinion it's extremely doubtful. Now watch them announce a new 34 at the dealers meeting coming up in May just to prove me wrong!

Thanks for the input!

I'll keep my fingers crossed...

I could do without a Slide Out if they bumped it from 30' to 34' : )

Boy I sure wish they would-
That is one thing that would make me consider trading my 2013 Classic-

It is surprising to me that with all the advances in slide outs in SOBs that airstream doesn't use them in their high end trailers or even the interstates? Even truck campers have slideouts now

We look at AS specifically because they DON'T have slides, along with the problems they bring.

I had a trailer with a slide. Problems with the slide is one of the reasons why I have an Airstream with no slide now.
I would love a 34' vs. my 30' for 4' more trailer-

I dunno. While a slide does give a bit more space, it is counter-intuitive from the point of view of fighting leaks, isn't it?

I mean, every friend of mine that has a TT with SOs (not AS, don't know anyone who owns one with a slide) seems to experience leaks at some time or other.

I doubt you'll see a slide. At last year's Alumapalooza the Airstream leadership team asked us if we wanted a slide. Not a single hand went up, at least as I recall. There were probably close to 150 folks in the session. No follow-up at all. Nobody mentioned a 34, BTW.

I really doubt you'll see a new 34.
I really, really, really doubt you'll see a 34 with a slide out.

Now, if somebody were to drop enough hundred dollar bills on Bob Wheeler's desk, he might change his mind--maybe.

Considering there are 85+ Airstreams built with slides, I doubt that Airstream is willing to fire up that feature as of now. The slides were good units. As an owner of one, I never have regretted that purchase. I bought it both for the space and potential resale in the future. Up until the last year I never knew how few were built.

The penalty was the extra weight which reduced cargo capacity and the heavy hitch weight that required a class V hitch and receiver. The older units with slides like mine only had a 650+ lb. net cargo capacity.

I was thinking the hardware for slides was weighty, and you just confirmed that suspicion.

Sure, I'm not Airstreams target demographic (don't own one currently, and, can't afford brand new anyways), so what I say is suspect. But, it does not surprise me that 'Streamers are mostly uninterested in Slides. Weight and complications....

Your AS is beautiful, Jack. Let me know when you get bored with it, OK?
