Sleep Number Mattress

We have a 30' Classic that has the mattress platform with the wooden slats. Would like to get a sleep number mattress, but they say it must be on solid surface. Anyone have any experience with sleep number on the slats or a solution that doesn't involve a plywood install.

Google is your friend. Not enough support if slats are greater than 2Ē apart. Not sure specs on airstream slats but this could be easily modified to work. Best of luck, include pictures if you decide to proceed so we can all see what you did and how it turned out!

Hi

Is the 2017 Classic in question a twin or a queen? Both have slats, they each have very different mattress issues.

Our Excella has a solid platform. It is 3" shorter than the mattress so it hangs over... Been this way for 7 years and a few hundred thousand miles without problems.
You're going to enjoy changes in altitude!

My 2017 Classic 30 Twin has a solid platform, not slats. Mine was one of the first ones built for the 2017 model year. Did AS make a change in production later on?

Hi

The section of the twin that raises has slats. The main part of the bed does not have slats. The area of the mattress over the "head / shoulder lift" is thinner than the rest of the mattress. The combo of the slats and the thinning make replacing the mattress a bit complicated.

I just checked again...no slats on either section. The part that lifts on both twin beds is solid plywood. I donít have a picture at this point and my wife is still sleeping so that will have to wait!
