Refrigerator Temperature - Shore Power

Hi All we are on our first trip in our new 2019 30. Our refrigerator does not cool below 44 degrees no matter what setting it is on. Is this normal? The outside temp is in the 50s, so it can’t be related to the temp difference capacity. We are connected to 30 amp shore power now, and noticed the same thing while plugged into 15amp at home. We have not been anywhere with 50 amp service yet.

We have tried setting 3, 2, and 1. Setting 3 cooled to 52 degrees. Both setting 2, and 1 are the same temp of 44. The freezer works great at all settings.

I tried sliding the thermocouple further up the cooling fin, and that didn’t change anything. The thermocouple appears to be placed normally.

Thank you in advance!

Our '19 serenity has 5 settings...on #3, we were down to 39F....44 seems a bit high....if you add a couple of cans of coke.....does it drop it down after a few hours?

Has it ever cooled the fridge or is this first run?

Check fridge door seal with dollar bill test.

Do you have a light that is staying on and heating it?

Try setting it to ‘5’. Apparently the higher numbers correspond to lower temps.

When I set the fridge to 5, it cools down to around 33 in the fridge and below 20 in the freezer.

On our 30' Classic we have the setting on 4, thermocoupler all the way up on the fin and we get a steady 37 degrees and freezer really really freezes. It is the same on LP, 50 amp or 30 amp.

We have the frig full. We even had to add a couple ice packs around the fish and meet to keep them at recommended temps.

This is the first time out, not used before.

The lights turning off, and it is sealing good, checked with dollar bill when freezer is open from top of frig when closed

Per below post we are trying setting 5, but I think that’s going the wrong direction.

Thank you for the troubleshooting support!

Mine is an older Dometic Royale 3way, but 5 is coldest setting for it. Anything past 3 makes items on top frig shelve freeze.

The higher the setting number the colder your fridge/freezer is correct. Mine is set at 4 and the temp ranges between 35-37. When it's at a 5, temp is 32.

Our 2014 International Serenity 25's refrigerator struggled to stay below 48 degrees on electric or propane. I added a vent exhaust fan and interior circulation fan to no avail. Our 2015 Classic 30's refrigerator stays in the mid 30s with the freezer staying around 1 degree or below. This tells me there was a mechanical or electrical malfunction with the Serenity's refrigerator.

Refrigerator Temperature - Shore Power

Do you have a small fan you can point so it blows air UP from the bottom of the outside of the coils ? Make sure it pointing on the coils and not on the chimney for the heating unit.

We’re in camp right now and pretty sure we’re on 4 plus small exterior fan and freezer temp is -6 in the morning and I think it’s about -2 right now.

No repairs to 12 yr old unit other than new seals on doors.

Try switching to gas and see if that helps.

Ditto. I run at "4" if outside weather is favorable and I'm not in the direct sun. I switch to "5" on hotter days, in direct sun or at bedtime if we are traveling the next day (it seems that the direct sun is always on the fridge when we travel, but I'm not sure how it manages to do that!).

Hi Friends! It turns out that was it! We reset to #5 before lunch, came back in and it was 34 degrees. We somehow read the instructions wrong.Click image for larger version

I told my fellow RV friend who we are camping with and he said to spell out “ID-10-T” on the ground (see attached photo). Note: he is the one rocking the purple Crocs, hmm. It turns out that about summed up my response on this one.

I sure appreciate the fast responses, and the idea about the internal fan, which we will purchase.

My next thread will be to inquire about the necessity to slam the door on our Classic for it to close solidly. I’m hoping for an adjustment, or other solution. The light above it already intermittently loses its ground contact and turns off, which I think is due to this....

Refrigerator Temperature - Shore Power

“India Delta Ten Tango” is the usual radio call....especially in Naval Aviation when some nugget ignores the LSO’s increasingly frantic directions, then at the last moment the LSO and crew dives down the escape chute, and the plane gets a bolter, whilst scaring the hell outta the rest of the deck crew.

Carrier Quals were the scariest time we spent. Combat is tame in comparison, although everything can turn to S41t at any time, pretty much instantly.
