Hot water

Is it really as simple as engaging the Shower Icon on the Alde system panel? Looking forward to hearing more about the elusive hot shower.
kendricks,
Please see my response to Bud in this post.

Dick:

Thanks for the reply. Here is a section from page 13 of the Alde owners manual. The Airstream manual is of no use at all with respect to the Alde system. I suspected this could be your issue, but did not hear so did not want to inject something that could have been way off base. Glad it worked out.

5. Continuous Operation:
Cont: With this option selected the pump is permanently on.

NOTICE:
This function limits the supply of hot water particularly when there is low heating requirements.

Therm: With this function selected the pump is controlled by the panel/room sensor. This is the normal operating mode for heating the vehicle and obtaining a normal supply of hot water. The factory setting is Therm.

This was one of the first things I was told to try back in December so my settings have always been on THERM but thanks for the information. I am sure that others will find it helpful. I think I messed up the mixing valve somehow so I will be heading to a dealer or JC to have someone other than me try and fix it for me. I have heat, plenty of heat but the shower is still rather cool. The water in the shower isn't cold anymore so there has been some improvement but it is still far from desirable.

Kendrick,
Have you tried to adjust the shower temperature, limit adjustment for the Kohler shower valve.
Instructions are on page 14 of the Kohler installation instructions. I tried to attach them to this post, but could not get it to work. You can find them on the Kohler web site. I also think I got a copy from Bud. If you can't find them, PM me with your email and I will send you the file.

Captain, yes she has already done the shower adjustment and I did send her the Kohler manual.

LK's situation appears to be unique from the others who have posted on here about the mixing valve and hot water. Just not sure what is going on.

No problem Bud, I figured it out without having to read the manual ( that I don't have)

Send me your email address again and I'll send it to you. There is also an Alde App for smart phones, at least Droid so I am confident one for Apple as well.

Figuring out on ones own is always a good thing, that way I at least have more of a chance to remember.

Dick,

Thanks for posting the instructions. I have been showing 6 links from the free end with no issues so far. However, I will try 8 to see if there is much difference.

What is the Alde app called? I checked the Apple App Store and can't find it but don't want to assume it has the same name. Thanks in advance.

Don't know about I phone but for Droid it's simply Alde Service App. I would suspect the same for I phone.

So, finally after a months delay on our way to FL. 400 miles in 40 plus winds, motorhomes and other trailers all over the road. Temps for much of the trip today in the 30's. Set Alde to 68, at every stop, temp inside 68. Got to campground, de winterized set up and got Alde hot water set. Waited 15 minutes, very hot water and let it run for ten minutes. So far the system is operating even better than anticipated. Two showers tomorrow before we pull out, if an issue I'll post but anticipate no issues based on how quick it set up today. The adjustments on the Alde boiler fixed the limited hot water we had in the fall and the bleeding of the system heating aspect functioned perfectly while in storage and traveling today. So far a great system and trailer.

Bud,
Great news that you are finally on your way. That must mean that your cute little doggie is on the mend. Sounds like all of your hard work is paying off and everything is working the way it is supposed to. I agree that it is a great system. We have yet to run out of hot water. Have a great trip.

Dick.

Thanks, yes both dogs doing great and we are as well. I'll reserve final judgement until two months are up, but so far the Alde system and the 2017 Classic are tops in our minds. Forth Airstream for us and by far the best

We left for Texas two weeks ago for a three month trip. Ten days into our trip I developed a blood clot in my leg. A piece of the clot broke off and found its way to my lung. They call it a pulmonary embolism. They felt that they had it under control so we left for Oklahoma City heading back to MN. Now it appears that I have a lot in my left arm. I will find out tomorrow. I guess it is not wise for me to take future trips. That means that I will probably have to sell what is in my mind the perfect RV. We have had four prior AS. Such is life. If you know of someone looking please let me know.

DS -- oh so sorry to hear your report. I am sure someone has already said this but you are pretty darn lucky to still be breathing on your own but hold off on making a decision to sell. Don't know your medical history but once they get you on therapeutic level of Heparin you may be able to travel again if you take lots of breaks along the way.
I wish a speedy, easy, and straight forward recovery for you.

Dick, so sorry to hear, but thank God and Doctors you are still with us. I'll ask a friend who loves ours to see if they are ready.

Three wires? Was the original secured to the floor?

The original was part of the upper unit. Looks nothing like this one. Third wire is the chassis ground. Dealer built that little sub-floor instead of mounting it directly to the floor.
