Just got off the phone with AS. Due to the nature of the “misunderstanding”, I cannot name names, spout details and generally rant and rave. I can say that AS is now doing all they can to get my trailer completed. I may have a more detail completion date later today.
The trailer is still in the factory and in production. I can say that we will not be leaving for Florida for quite a few days yet. U-haul has extended my contract another 2 days for free (it now has been extended 5 days! Good on Uhaul) We can buy additional time at $20/day and I may be buying a week.
I don’t want to speak for AS, but it appears that Classic 30’s are behind in production. That said, they were very gracious and I seem to have their attention. AS did recognize us as a loyal and returning customer, which I appreciate.
I believe it is one of those situations where everyone from AS production, customer support, dealer sales, and my dealer were looking on the optimistic side when dealing with me. Facts are facts. The fact is, it’s still on the factory floor.

I just got a call from Airstream and they said my trailer is finished. It is now in Quality control and is being tested. I was told it would either be released today or on Monday. It then will get shipped to Florida.
I'm glad it is finished but feel unexpectedly sad that they singled mine out and completed it. I didn't ask them to do that. All I ask for was a truthful evaluation of completion date so I knew how to proceed. All sorts of other things are involved in them making their decision so I won't guess why they chose to do this. I am glad it is finished.

Squeaky wheel gets the attention. We have a 2017 Classic, but heard from a friend waiting like you that it was cabinet doors on his unit holding things up. Good Luck

I get it that there are things that can hold up a build, but cabinet doors seem to be the goto answer. AS has a company making the doors in the classic. The first run down the plant started a month ago. Did the cabinet company not anticipate the 25 trailers going down the line in the last month?
It's not like 30,000 of them where needed.

Ok...so I made my post about the new Classic 30 and I am petrified by the responses and complaints etc....wow....maybe I should not post more things......I have been an aistream owner for close to 20 years and it amazes me that buyers think these are like cars....the auto industry vastly more advanced in supply manufacturing, supply chain management and spends BILLIONS in manufacturing innovation.....go to JC and see how they are built...by hand in a boat builders manufacturing line. No robots, no laser scanners, etc. anyway , no front locker in classic 30 so on,y thing is that I can’t put my Honda 2200 on the battery box now.....I will fabricate a platform higher up supported by two curved bars to do that...there are examples on the net with some white box campers. I wrote to my manager friend at the Corp office and said they should make an arrangement with pro pride for an option on the larger coaches

Hi
A lot of the hardwood industry is now out of places like .... errr ... North Carolina. The modern approach is to inventory next to nothing at all and have this or that arrive at your door on the day you need it. Combine a hurricane with (maybe) an "oops this doesn't quite fit" and you have a production delay with a very indefinite solution date.

I probably agree with you on that one, but it's sad that AS can't just say "Oh, the wood we use in the construction is delayed due to the hurricane."
I guess any kind of negative response ends up hurting sales. But that would not result in a customer canceling.
My wife and I got a bit stressed out not knowing what was happening. We had no real information coming out of Airstream and likewise from our dealer and the information we did get was wrong. Not blaming anyone as I believe all the people I dealt with did not have the information. Only after AS management took a look at the production floor, did I get some real world info.
One thing I did find out. The order tracking information in their office has very little info on it about individual trailers. I assume all this will get rectified in the new plant.

Was this intended as a sarcastic comment?
After decades in business, with quite a few management issues still remaining, why would a new plant change anything? If anything won't the problems be harder to correct?

You have to assume that with a new plant and production layout, that they would incorporate many new systems to monitor the work. I'm sure there are limitations in the old plant where these things were not possible plus the cost to incorporate knowing it all will be moving.
I've worked with large companies before in my early computer days, and systems are always easier to implement on a new building and project.
Whether they do this or not would only be a guess on my part, but why would you not do it?

It’s time to go from ordering and patiently waiting, to taking delivery, we are scheduled to pick our Classic 30 up next Wednesday. We will be giving it a three week test run down in the southeast. Keeping our fingers crossed that all goes well.

Hi
Relax, all will go well. Don't wander to far from the dealer in the first couple days, just in case. You never know what minor tweak might be needed.

We are taking that good advice Bob and planning to hang near the dealer for a week or so. Of course having some great camping friends in that area helps too😁!

In route to Fort Meyers to pick up the new Classic. Our enclosed trailer worked great for hauling the camping gear and some of our friends gear down. They winter in the Naples region and appreciated a freighter heading south

If you need some help understanding some of the new systems, just give me a call. You've got my number.
