I would think the oven decision over very carefully. We have a 30'FC, not Classic but the galley layout is similar. Since we don't do a lot of baking in the trailer due to heat build-up, we got the convection microwave, not the oven. We also cook a fair amount, so have a somewhat complete collection of kitchen utensils and devices. All of our roof lockers and drawers in the galley are filled with a bit of overflow in the top shelf in the wardrobe. If you get both the oven and the microwave, you will have precious little drawer space in the galley. Our plan is if end up deciding to do extensive baking, we will get a propane oven to use outdoors (due to heat, especially in the summer). As it is, we often cook outdoors (either with the grill or electric skillet) due to heat and grease concerns anyway.

In Rich's book on Airstream Maintenance he tells you how to maintain and polish Corian.

We had convection in one trailer, did not like it so when we ordered the 30' FC we have now we ordered a standard micro-wave and standard oven. We use the oven to store things while traveling. Works well for us

To the question someone asked about polishing Corian, yes you can. The recommendations can be found at the website http://www.geeksonhome.com/how_5614795_buff-corian.html, among others.

We put down some runners and rugs on the floors. Similar to what Barry did with his 2015. If you want to see a tricked out 2015 Classic Barry is the man. Ask about his dishwasher...
Barry his user name? Won't be able to find anything without actual user name.

Thanks so much, to all of you, for your advice! Even though some of it was contradictory (!) it all was a help in making our decision. We truly appreciate it! God bless!

Our 2016 Classic floor, when brand new, looked fine. In reality, it was filthy and made the soles of my feet black. What??

The solution? We cleaned and scrubbed it many times -- over and over again. Now it's clean -- it still looks the same as it did when the trailer was new, but the soles of my feet stay clean. I can't explain it.

We got the light/light combo (because the cabinets are dark enough) and gas oven option with twins. Over the 7 weeks since we went full-time, I have grown to love it even more. We find it so easy to live in and the aesthetics, while a little too traditional for me, are, well, classic. We think of it as our luxury pullman car.

I'd caution against the black countertops -- google "black corian countertops" and you'll see what I mean. Scratches will show. On the sandalwood, scratches do not show. The light ultra leather is very easy to clean, as is the ultra suede that surrounds the windows.

If I could change one thing, I'd get the electric awning. I know, I know, there have been problems. But so many times I've wished I could open it or close it with the push of a button.

Whatever you choose, you will love it, I promise you.

The black Corian does show scratches, but (like all Corian), you can buff them out if they bother you. It is even possible to remove very deep scratches and cuts (I saw a YouTube video on how to do this). My countertops are fine after a LOT of use. I would say that of all the add-on's, we really like the Vesta dishwasher. While we did lose part of the closet, it uses very little water, is amazingly quiet, and winterized without issues. My latest mod (this is for Garry Haynes), is an electric actuator that lifts the bed for easier access to the storage area. We found that adding the mattress topper increased the weight to the point where lifting the bed and holding it was a hassle. I used a 12V electric actuator arm (manufactured for the dump mechanism for the bed of a home tractor). You simply push the switch forward to lift the bed and hold it to the rear to lower it. Also, it stops wherever you want it. Yes, another motor, yes something else to go wrong...but with the enormous battery/solar/inverter power it really isn't an issue!

I can't imagine not having both a microwave AND a thermal oven. I did dump the "Franklin Chef" microwave/convection that came in my trailer. I substituted the microwave with a Panasonic. This is one of the few microwaves that uses an internal inverter -- so instead of just pulsing on and off (which is what virtually all microwaves do), it actually decreases and increases the power to the magnetron for better cooking performance.

Barry you are killing me. Almost fell off the dinette seat laughing. Makes me glad that I have the twin beds. Keep it up and you will need a RAM 3500 dually or maybe even an MDT/HDT like one of the ones from RVHaulers.ca. Giving it more thought skip the RAM and get the HDT Volvo. Safe travels.

We have twins, but with the addition of 3" tempurpedic toppers, the beds are very heavy to lift. I could use two of BAB's motors.

ghaynes755 we just came back from our first outing and had a few problems. One was the furnace. It ran for about an hour on auto and then shut off when it reached the set temperature. When it kicked on again all we got was cold air. You mentioned trouble with the sail switch and that it was an easy fix. Can you tell me more about that? Also, we thought both the furnace and heat pump sounded very loud. At least louder than we expected after being in both pop up trailers and motorhomes.

Hi Joanne,
The floor in our 2016 Classic turns the bottoms of our socks brown. It has done this from the first day we got it 11 months ago up through the last time we used the trailer a couple of weeks ago. I have scrubbed the floor end to end on my hands and knees three times and we even had the floor professionally steam cleaned and in every case it made no difference. Within hours the bottoms of our socks were again turning brown.

I would like to know what you did to get the flooring clean. What cleaner did you use? How many times did you clean it? etc.

As a side note, Lorrie thinks our flooring may be fading (I am not as sure due to shadows when looking at the corners vs. main walking areas). Have you noticed that in yours?

Joe,

We initially used a wet swiffer because that's all we had (we were still at the dealer) and made about 6-8 passes, each with a fresh pad, pressing hard. Each pad was filthy afterwards but they gradually ended up a bit cleaner.

That mostly did the trick, but I didn't like using the swiffer pads and we abandoned them. Then we did a couple of passes on hands/knees using a microfiber rag and the only cleaner I use in the AS -- Mrs Meyers Clean Day Multi-Surface Everyday Cleaner, Basil scent, rinsing several times.

Since then, we've had no problems with the floor. I vacuum every day (takes two minutes) and on laundry day about once a week or less, we wash the floor with a swiffer-like stick product that uses a washable microfiber pad instead of a swiffer pad. We wet the pad and spray a little Mrs Meyers on the floor and scrub. Then we rinse the pad and go over the floor one more time to remove the cleaner. Then the microfiber pad gets washed/dried when we do the laundry.

We slip our shoes off at the entry and always go barefoot inside or on cold mornings, we wear socks.

I haven't noticed any fading.
