Thx

TB,

You can't gain access because the Mothership had it shut down, the thread is still there but only the powers that be have access, you could try bribery.
I guess the kitchen got too hot for them.
It was a gallant try, but they weren't prepared for how passionate a lot of folks here were about their shoddy QC experiences.

Damn. Call me old school if you like, but there isn’t anything wrong with that, in fact, it is very cool in its own way. Wth do people want from a waiting room anyway? A concert grand maybe?

If anyone has the drawers vice oven, be sure to check the gas line to the cook top is not hit by the drawer every time you close it, as evidenced by contact noise and shiny rub marks on the copper.

It is odd. Almost like AS builds their smaller trailers better than their larger more expensive ones like the Classic. I wonder if the same AS employees work on all the trailers, or are there separate lines?

Maybe the people who buy the larger, more expensive models have more of a sense of entitlement.

I was told that they batch certain units. So run a group of 23’s, then they run a batch of 30’s, etc.

When new employees are in, they get better with each unit. I would think it’s better to have your unit towards the end of the batch....

I have toured the factory many, many times over the years. I have never seen the units batched. It is always a random mix of lengths and models on the line at any given time.

LOL. Ya, wanting dinette seats actually screwed to the floor so that they don't move around, electrical outlets actually connected to the wire and not having three plumbing leaks.

Man those entitled Classic people! AS fanboys are always entertaining.

Adventure and Country, surly you are kidding...I own a 17 Classic but I don’t have any entitlement issues. It wouldn’t matter if the price was $50,000 or 150,000. The machine should work or function as designed.
Maybe those who don’t have the Classic have jealousy issues.

Red face

We only started to feel entitled after taking delivery in 2004....

Entitled to get a little more than we got.....

Is it that much different now?

Items noted before taking delivery that were fixed by the dealer.

1) Both front segment protectors scratched and dented.

2) Rear bumper covers cracked.

3) Access door under bathroom sink would not open, repaired but seized solid again by the time we got home from the dealer.

4) Pantry slide-out off both tracks, repaired but failed again when loaded on our first trip. Took pantry out, removed slide tracks, removed all ball bearings and divided equally between tracks, as sent replacement tracks, holding as spares until needed.

Now for the q/c and PDI stuff... It's important to note that all concerns listed were repaired by myself. The selling dealer had closed.

1) Three of the clearance light bulbs.

2) Two storage compartment light bulbs.

3) Two screen door protector screws missed their mark.

4) Bad vibration in left front speaker, again mounting screws missed their mark. Screws replaced with Velcro tape. Close out panel now easily removed.

5) Water pump failure caused by a separated wire inside the insulation where wiring enters the pump housing….. Failure occurred on our first camping trip.

6) A multitude of pinholes in accordion shade over sink.

7) Water leak at shower manifold caused by cold water line being too short.

8) Three plastic latches for closet doors and two storage compartments installed poorly, misalignment, causing latch failure.

9) Stove igniter knob cracked/failure.

10) Bathroom mirror latch.

11) … hold down screws for converter missed their mark.
Sloppy/noisy water pump install & wiring. Install rubber isolation mounts, re-route and secure wiring harness.

12) Water heater<> thermostat not calibrated<>scalding temp.

13) Fridge interior light inop, switch arm cracked

14) Kitchen sink spray handle cracked, leaking when used.

15) Construction debris found thru-out trailer. Bic lighter & candy wrapper under rug in streetside rear compartment.

16) AC shroud, skylight, ff vent all cracked at screw mount holes from improper install.

17) Black tank vent leaking, poor install/caulking. Missing screws.

18) Water line fitting under bathroom sink cross-threaded, cracked, leaking.

19) Filiform corrosion

20) Clearcoat peeling from entry door hinges and battery door surrounds.

Airstream did send us the necessary items to make the repairs on some items:
Water pump, shade, latches for closet and storage doors.
New door for bathroom access, slide for pantry.
Other necessary items purchased from Camping World.
I never received a CSI report from the factory, or any follow-up at all.
The factory QC was lacking, but the dealer must assume some of the responsibility for a very poor PDI. Well I guess that just about covers it, except to say I was more than a little disappointed in the whole experience!

Bob how dare you list off your laundry list of AS failings. What, are you so entitled you don't want 20 items that need repair?

I wonder where the quantity cutoff is for defects that delineates if you are entitled or not. Or maybe it is the severity of the defects that matters?

What a bunch of garbage statement. "entitlement" statement coming from a Canadian. Can you say "oxymoron".

if I couldn't tighten a loose screw I would seriously question whether I should tow a 7000 lb trailer on a highway with others.

Most likely if one can not tighten a screw, they can not count to 7k.

Factory Quality Control Issues

The problem with grievances, is that crybabies and posers ruin it for the folks who have genuine issues,,,, and it’s hard to know the difference on the internet.... #JustTrue
