Exterior Lighted Door Entrance Handle
I have talked on this exterior lighted handle by the door in my thread on "Factory Quality Control", however the flat bottom bathroom sink stole the show. I thought best to do a thread on the handle by it's self. Our AS is a 2017 Classic so I am not sure what other models have. What is at issue is the bottom rubber grommet under the handle bracket, no sealant where the handle mounts are against the the door frame, and no sealant at the anchor holes in the exterior skin.
- The bottom handle grommet has the "drain" slot at the top of the grommet and not the bottom where any water should drain out. You will need to cut a slot in so the water will drain out. When I pulled the handle bracket off water poured out.
- After pulling the handle, brackets, and grommets off there was not sealant between the door from and the exterior skin. You will need to place sealant so there is continuous sealant bead between the door frame and exterior skin.
- When you re-install the handle you will need to place sealant in the anchor holes prior to installing the anchors.
- I had one bent anchor that I replaced.
The concern w/no sealant and no drain slot, you will have water intrusion into the inner walls. Over time you run the risk of getting mold and water damage due too incorrectly factory practice. sbowman

Thanks for a great start of an important thread. Looked at mine last weekend from your quality post; could see continous door frame sealant and the squeezed shut drain hole on the top of the bottom bracket mount. Will still pull off and goop up the screws, door frame and grommet top, cut bottom weep hole.
Related, but different location is the exterior shower door. That excellent gasket and SS knife edge door traps water up to about 3" deep, just about where the water tube penetrations come through the inner skin. Looked and found no signs of intrusion the first time, but need to cut a good chunk out of the gasket on the bottom to allow drainage.

You can see the static water level and that fine Utah dust. I guess the screw sealed well enough. All gooped up now.

One more note, when you take the lower bracket off, nothing holding that big piece of lucite but friction, and if it falls and hits the edge of your step, will leave a noticeable divot.

Sounds like something I would do. I've not taken mine off, but will sometime this week. But maybe I'm missing something in the OP post, which was great, and in your's I see no wires for the lights?

Tiny LED in top bracket, if you take it off, may dislodge the glue mount.
