Classic decor.................................

Hi everyone,
Thanks in advance for answering my questions. My husband and I (Pete B55) are planning on purchasing a Classic by spring and I am very partial to the cream leather and light counter tops. I don’t see that combination on dealer websites and wondered if any of you have one with these features. If you do could you please post them?

Also we are going to replace my car with a truck to tow our soon to be silver girl. Are any of you ladies out there the owners of a large truck? Which did you chose. I recently test drove a Tundra, Titan, F150, and F250. I am 5’4” so a little vertically challenged and wondered which truck the ladies feel is the best in the long run for everyday use.

The Classic is a bit On the heavy side, so depending on how you're loaded you may exceed the ratings of a Tundra/F150. I also was looking at Classics but lucked out when my wife preferred the Flying Cloud. Light enough that I could keep my Escalade. I was not wanting something larger as it is also my daily driver and I didn't want to deal with that.

Others may have differing opinions, but at this size and weight I believe you are definitely in 250/2500 territory. Pulling it is one thing. Stopping it and controlling it are another. Best of luck.

Thanks. Your points are well taken. Yikes. It may be the F250 for me but I hear the 2017 which comes out soon drives more like a car; at least a little bit.

Agree with Ronald. A 250/2500 is a great fit for the Classic. I have a '12 Ram 2500 with the Cummins diesel. One major advantage of the diesel is the exhaust braking function. Makes a huge difference going down hills/mountains. You can do a 7% grade and never touch your service brakes. (Well almost never!)

A handy feature on our RAM 2500 is the electric foot pedal height adjustment. See if this is an option available for the F250.

Although the interior color combination choices that you want may not be a standard offering, you may want to contact Jackson Center to see if they would make one for you as a custom order.

Maggie B: I would not consider anything less than an F250 Diesel. LOTS will argue this or that can do the job and I know they can, but they are overloaded, unless you plan on not taking anything with you in the bed of the truck. We have a 30" FC and considering a 2017 Classic and we tow with an F350 Diesel. Never had a handling issue.

Having towed our Classic 30 first with a 1500, now a 2500, I am much happier with the latter.

If you already had 1500 I would say try it and see, but having had both, my own feeling is that the 2500 is the better fit. It will of course be costly if you buy and switch shortly after!

The trailer itself is the biggest load, but don't forget to include you're camping style. Do you pack light with the toys and gotta have its or is it roof rack and still needing more room?

I have a 30' Classic with slide and carry fairly heavy with my cooking and other gear so looking back really glad I bought a 3/4 T just some days wish it was 8' not 6 1/2' bed.

A cap is a real consideration for security and storage options, bought mine latter than I should have.

Our 2016 Classic came with the Sandlewood (light color) dinette top with the Night Sky (dark) kitchen and bath countertops.

We don't know why it is this way and questioned the dealer but he had no idea. Either it was ordered that way or the dinette top was changed out for some reason.

The DW likes it that way and so we bought the trailer.

Maggie - we have the color combo you're looking for and we love it. I see someone posted a link, but if you want any pics, send a private message. We have the twin setup and one thing I noticed is we don't have a corian piece on the bedroom nightstand. It's just the finished cabinet top. Every picture I've seen of the twin so far has corian there. Maybe ordered that way.

We have a 2016 Classic with twins with the light Corian and light ultraleather. I believe Airstream started using Corian instead of wood for the nightstand beginning with the 2017s or perhaps late in the 2016 model year. We had Jackson Center switch out our wood nightstand top for the Corian and much prefer it. It doesn't show dust or scratches and you don't have to worry about water glasses leaving a ring. And I just prefer the light surface to the dark one.

I'm very happy with the light/light combo and am glad I took the chance as I too had not seen photos. (If you want photos, PM me with your email address.) I wanted the interior to be as light as possible to offset the dark cabinetry. Also, when I asked Patrick at Colonial about what he thought of the dark countertops versus the light, he cautioned me that the dark ones show scratches. As fulltimers, our trailer gets daily use and I didn't want to be bothered with having to polish out countertop scratches.

Fully loaded, our trailer weighs about 9200 pounds. Again, as fulltimers, we carry everything with us so we were concerned with the tow vehicle's payload, so we went with a 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD LTZ diesel. At the time of purchase, we looked at Fords first, but the Ford drove like a truck and the interior was very outdated, while the Chevy was a much more refined ride with a newly designed interior. We never got around to looking at Rams, and really, I didn't like the big goat head logos, no offense to Ram owners. Also, I believe the payload on the Ram wasn't as good as the Chevy.

Maggie we ended up buying a Sierra 2500 and I'm glad we did. It drives nicely and it has adjustable pedals. We went out West this summer, pulling it over the Bighorn Mountains in Wyoming. We are sure we would not have made it with a 1500/150. It's a lot of truck for everyday driving, but it pulls the Classic like a dream.
