Have you noticed any change in handling with that setup? Many discussions here about the physics of putting weight on the back of the trailer like this. Definitely not recommend.

At first glance, that doesn't look like a good idea. How is the hitch receiver connected to the trailer/frame?

Welded to the frame. All total right at 100lbs.

Just welded to frame. Bike rack your chose. This bike rack folds down (see pic) and you can easy access everything. 100lbs weight. 2000 miles on it and no difference in towing.

You may want to consider another point of attachment to help alleviate the frame stress with the bikes bouncing up and down as you go down the road. Perhaps some kind of a strap from the rack/bikes attached to the shell of the trailer at a rib point, maybe over the rear window.

Fair enough that you’re not worried about your frame warranty, however, as Steve pointed out, there are significant concerns with adding weight to the rear of the trailer, especially with a bike rack. The extra weight that hangs off the back is ‘amplified’ by the distance from the axles.

Yes, looked at that hard. So, same bikes and rack on my truck driving off road many times and no problems. Triangle design is what I would like for sure.

The video is a great visual of what happens when you change the fulcrum point “by extremes”. I weighed in (at the weight scales) 8500 trailer. The total weight I have on the back is 100lbs. .011% of total. With bike rack off, the scale wouldn’t even detect a weight change on the tongue weight. I’m running a pro pride hitch set up and I tow no more than 65mph. I just drove 2000+ miles across the US and at one point 40 mph cross winds and ONE finger on the wheel. I’m not sure what you are reading. So yes I did some homework and testing before I left and put my family in there.

my advice: remove that rack from the trailer.
Those smiling faces in your photo/avatar is what you are betting will not be harmed by the addition your bike rack.
The weight back there does not harm anything, UNTIL IT DOES. Then it's too late.
I installed a bike rack on my trailer too. After seeing and reading so many times about how sway events are caused by extra load on the rear of a trailer and seeing the wreckage, I removed it. I use a rack inside the trailer now.

By the way, another option to consider in lieu of putting the bikes on the rear of your trailer is to add a hitch receiver to the front of your tow vehicle... Again, good luck.

Do another test.
Extend your arms straight out from your sides, parallel to the floor. Rotate your hips so that your arms move in an arch around your body, then stop suddenly. See how your hands want to keep moving, following that circular motion.
Now add a 10 lb weight to one of your hands and do the same motion. See how this weight is amplified. It makes that hand want to move even more as you stop suddenly. That is what your bike and rack will do to your trailer.
100+ lbs swinging behind the axle is amplified several times by the distance (simple leverage) This horizontal left/right motion (sway) is the danger!

I think what people are trying to do is save your life. Airstream only has one bike rack manufacture they recommend and only one. I am sure you did your due diligence but please reconsider.
Just because you managed to drive 2,000 miles and no one died doesn’t mean it’s safe. A lot of folks driving impaired actually do make it home in one piece.

I think OP is fine with what he has done. The frames are much bigger on the new trailers. They are not 3” channels any more. As long as he tied into the frame with the hitch tube he will be fine. Actually I will be doing the same thing, when I get around to it.
Let me ask what is the difference between a fiamma bike rack with bikes on it or a regular bike rack? As long as the weight is carried by the frame, it will be no problem.
My bike rack is a tray model with a no wobble bolt though. So no bouncing or wobble.
