Alde system leak

Sorry if I missed this on the Much adu about Alde. We just had our unit replaced because of an intermittent leak from under the metal box. Now the new unit started leaking after I “burped”the water drains. I’m really frustrated. Anyone else have this problem?

Is the leak water or Alde fluid? What metal box?

What “unit”? The entire Alde system was replaced? The whole trailer?

Water leaks from under the Adle metal box. Glycol is fine. No water leaks from any of the fittings around alde. System worked without leaking for two weeks. Now it's leaking again. Headed to the Alde USA office in Vancouver Wa so they can trouble shoot. Anyone have a similar issue?

Have you drained the boiler recently? I don’t know where you are on the Alde learning curve so please forgive me if you already know about it. The boiler (very small hot water tank) located under the first bench in your Classic needs to be drained weekly when the AS is being used every day to maintain the needed air pocket. If the boiler isn’t drained regularly then pressure builds up and the pressure relief valve kicks in which a reason why you might be seeing water dripping out under the trailer.
If you have drained the boiler and you still have a leak then it’s back to square one in troubleshooting.

GloryBound, did you resolve this Alde leak? We have a 2017 30' Classic and it just started leaking water from under the metal Alde box under the dinette seat. Called Airstream and Truma but no suggestions on how to fix so far. Would love to know what you learned. Thank you!

Is the leak coming from a fitting or inside the unit? We just had a leak inside the unit and it ended needing to be replaced.

We went from 3010 to the 3020, huge difference in performance. We love it and get a nice beep when the shower booster is hot and ready.

Hope you’re able to find the leak on the outside of the unit! Those are serviceable without having to replace the unit

Thanks!

Thanks BigSxyWhtGuy. Unfortunately, the water leak is from inside the unit. Appreciate you sharing your experience and insights on 3020 upgrade. Sounds like we may be headed in that direction.

Reach out to airstream JC as well. They were a huge help in getting us in touch with the right person at Truma and got us a discount and everything. Truma was was only two weeks out on service scheduling, not sure how the airstream dealers are? The guy we had was extremely knowledgeable about alde and the airstream configuration and even said he helped with the airstream recall too.

Best of luck!

For the time being, we placed a towel on the ground folded up next to the alde unit on the back side. We folded up some paper towels and wiggles them into the alde unit near the bottom and they acted like a wick, drawing the water into the towel.

You can bypass the system so only cold water is in the trailer and just turn it all back on when you need hot water for shower or whatever else.

Hope those helps in the mean time!

Bypass hot

How do we bypass the hot water? We turn off the Alde but still get a leak with water pump on and have disconnected City water as it's a constant leak.

By the way, what did they find out was wrong with yours?

We talked with Airstream in JC and they sent us to Truma but not response from Trump yet. Have an appt at Airstream Las Vegas in 2 weeks.

To bypass the alde just flip all of the black valves. I think there are four total. Then flip the two yellow drain valves to drain the Alde system, that will stop the internal leak until you need hot water.

Once you need hot water, flip everything back to how it was and turn on shower booster. You’ll have hot water within a few minutes after you burp the air out of the system.

It’s a pain but a temporary solution until you can get a fix.
