Alde leaks to outside (2017 Classic)

Alde leaks to outside. Stephen at Alde says sometimes the valve will lockup if/when bumps occur while moving. Anyone else encounter this? Have new valve on order through Airstream of Scottsdale.

Yes I have experienced Alde system leakage. Where is Alde system leaking and is it glycol or water?

You may have on issue at all. If you have not had your AS at elevation with Adle on, it can dump a little coolant out the overflow. Check the fluid level of the tank that is located behind the access panel in the cabinet above the head.

Thank you so much. I checked the fluid & had to fill it backup between Min & Max serval times. So believe it is the valve being stuck out of closed position.

Have received the replacement? Stop the leak?

If not, can try removing the valve, messy if expansion tank full, but keep your finger on the hole, while shaking out or purging the vent valve, maybe shaking vigorously under water in a bucket? Maybe a removable Schrader valve in the assembly, like the vents in NE circulating hot water systems.

A 5' head of fluid to the tank will only be about .4 psi squirting out. Finger stoppable. But messy. [emoji12]

Under warranty the dealer replaced the Alde valve & heater now works like new. Best to beware of bumps in the road, I guess.

Alde is needing to be refilled. Loosing Glycol. '17 30' Classic

All,

I too am having issues with my Alde system loosing fluid. I picked my couch up on Nov 1 '19 from the Airstream dealer south of Knoxville and noticed an open bottle of Alde blue in the loo sink. The tech just shrugged it off and gave me the remaining bottle. Good thing, I have used it all in 2 months.

1. How do you find the leak?
2. Where can I buy "official" Alde fluid or can I use another brand safely in the system? (I am reading mixed reviews on this forum about using other glycols.)

Thanks in advance,

Eddie

Eddie you can get fluid directly from Airstream in the store. Call the parts department since it isn't listed on the website. I think I paid about $18 for a quart of 50/50 premix. Some dealers may also stock the bottles.

You can use other brands but don't mix brands together. Bad Karma. When it comes up to the two year flush cycle I will change to Century TF1 fluid as it is much less expensive.
