Water heater support update

We just brought home a new 2019 23FB. We traded in a 2018 23CB. FB bath and bed is much more user-friendly to our creaky bones.

We experienced a nightmare with our CB in that the Atwood water heater was not properly supported resulting in the tearing of the exterior skin. The following link explains the horror... http://www.airforums.com/forums/f445...rt-186617.html

AS never changed their installation procedure on the assembly line. The new heater is still precariously perched on a piece of wood which vibrated loose on the 90 mile trip home.

Check your water heater now if you haven’t done so already.

Very happy to say that fit and finish and all systems in the rest of trailer worked beautifully.

Water heater support update

Yeah, they’ve been putting a couple pieces of plywood in an ‘L’ shape under the back edge of the water heater since at least 2007, which is how mine was installed. Simple and not real reliable. Mine was not an issue.

I changed out the Atwood for a PrecisionTemp tankless unit which weighs a lot less, and put a better prop under the back of it. Mine was barely screwed down at first. Needs to be done a lot better, but my original did stand up for years before it changed it out. I would have liked a well-supported shelf for the Atwood. The new tankless did ok with a simple prop on many long trips.
