New for 2017

Has anyone heard what changes are planned for 2017 International? And what the expected price increase will be for early 2017? We were just told they will be available in May.

Info will be available in mid-May when Airstream holds their dealer meeting. Same every year.

The 2016 price increase was 3%, it seems like a stretch to double that for the 2017 model year unless Airstream has made some major production changes.

Since Airstream has a nearly 1500 trailer backlog, and it seemingly can't make trailers fast enough, why not capture all the possible profits? It's just a supply and demand issue--raise the prices until demand slackens. In the meantime, Airstream makes much more per unit.

I think changes and new features will have little to do with it. In 2016 the Company raised prices 3% with little to no effect on demand. So for 2017 double that and see what happens.

I have been promised a trailer in May that's not a bad wait if they are so back logged . I hear the 2017s will back in and park themselves - that's why 6%..... Way better than breakfast , just sayin IMO .

Well , truth be told I got a email today from salesman that in my model Serenity , the only new thing was a factory installed rear camera . Very disappointed .... backing trailers makes me nauseous .

Ninanet - I find the best part of the backup cam is augmenting your rear view while driving. You get a MUCH better view of people creeping around your blind spots or riding your trailer bumper than possible with traditional mirrors. The combo of good mirrors and the rear can is hard to beat.

I don't find it as helpful for backing up except for the audio capability (Voyager wireless) that allows me to hear my wife's guidance while backing in to a spot. What makes you nauseous about the process?

Good luck!

I have no idea why I get nauseous . It's bizarre isn't it ? Don't get seasick / car sick. Just happens on those 30 times in and out to check where the ball is etc ..must be the head turning back and forth , I
think I'm going to try one of those hitch aid sticks with a ball on top . It doesn't help that I am awful at backing - doesn't stop me from doing it though .
I'm really excited about the rear camera - towing thru traffic and unable to see to get over terrifies me . My present TV has the best mirrors I have ever had , your right , good mirrors make all the difference.

I think that's why our driving instructor (a truck driver) said the trick is to move your eyes, not your head. I still can't do it like he did - he demonstrated a back in without moving his neck. But that and more practice could help. Give yourself a goal to reduce the 30 in and out checks to 15 and see if you can do 50% of your mirror checks with eye movement only. For that, the rear cam actually does help!

Good luck!
