Nice! We're in Annandale and just drove down to VA Beach for the day - we're trying to put miles on our new RAM crew diesel ... So we drove down for a late lunch at Watermans Grill on the beach near the inlet, and came back home. Got back about 45 mins ago ;-). Maybe we'll cross paths some time. We're waiting for our Classic (Due ~September). Take care, Rich and Kat

Blackout shades?!?!? Yes, please! Wonder how they work and, since I'm sure Airstream doesn't make them, if they can be retrofitted.

After looking at the black out curtains in the 2017, it is tan colored black out material sown into the same design as earlier models. I asked the sales associate and she said you could order them direct. The change does not impact how the curtains work, so we are going to have a local seamstress sew in a black out material.

Interesting... I was assuming / hoping that it was another shade (on all the windows) that was able to be open and closed independently. Like maybe on the outside of the screen. But then that would be exposed to any sort of driving rain so that wouldn't be the best.

I dropped off my 2016 Serenity 30 Twin today at the the dealer for the little warranty work it needs. When I'm at the dealer I like to look and see what's new.
What I immediately noticed was the firmness on the new 2017 matresss.
I hate the mattress in my 2016 and was going to live with it, even with the topper on it.
Do those of you with 2017 models like the mattresses?
I'm prepared to buy new replacements at $625 each
Thank you!

Mattress firmness is a personal thing, so hard to ask others opinions. I find the mattress in our 2016 Classic better than my Tempur-Pedic mattress at home and easily the best mattress in any travel trailer I have ever been in, but the I require a softer mattress. Lorrie needed 4" of foam on top of the same 2016 Classic mattress to get comfortable.

I have not heard of any statement from Airstream that the matresses were changed for 2017. Good luck.

On the list of improvements for 2017, it lists "improved roof to one piece aluminum roof". Does anyone know what was changed in the roof design?

The ducted A/C roofs previously had a lengthwise seam because the roof was about 9" wide, taking the curve into account, but the aluminum sheet was 8" wide. They now get a full width single sheet roof that is approximately 9" wide. One less seam to seal and less labor to build. A good change.

That sounds great. I assume you meant 8' and 9'.
