Advice needed for running my new wired cam

Our 2020 Super Duty TV came with a very nice wired camera system that displays on the infotainment screen. I want to mount the cam up near the rear marker lamps for best visibility both underway and while maneuvering in close quarters. Ford provided plenty of durable cabling, grommets, etc. I haven't had good luck with wireless systems in the past. I've studied dozens of links here having to do with connecting wireless cameras to 12 volt marker lamps and running solar wiring to interior controllers but nothing about discretely running wiring all the way from the trailer hitch up to the rear roof area. I know about refrigerator vent access techniques and various toilet vent runs but they all lead to interior devices. What is the IDEAL method to get all the way to the hitch?

My first rear camera was a Garmin where I mounted the camera on the license plate, ran the cable from the camera down the back of trailer, along the bumper and underneath. I then ran the cable all the way forward to the tongue and use cable ties to attach it to the stuff up under the trailer. Worked fine for years.
However, when I got my 2017 Silverado they had a wireless camera solution for the back of the trailer displaying on the truck's infotainment screen. Like the Voyager except on the main truck display. Works great.

Larry, thanks for your response. Interesting about the GM adaptability for wireless cam on your OEM screen in the truck. I really prefer to have the camera up higher than at license plate height and, more importantly, not have wires showing. Wiring up on top of the roof is one thing but I'd really prefer not running it down the back.

Biggest question is how much cable did fFord send you? It can be done, but it’s going to require some effort.

Also, to clarify, I have absolutely no objection to running the cable from the roof down through the refrigerator vent if necessary and I have no issues with securing the cabling to the underside of the trailer from that point or others. I just don't know how to get from the fridge enclosure down to the underside OR if there's a better way that I'm not thinking about such as a hidden channel.

My initial thought was to mount high as you stated, but I ended up mounting between license plate bracket and pano window for ease of wiring, BUT the Ford cam is such a nice wide angle I see waaay more than with the Airstream provided Voyager. Most importantly to me, the resolution is marvelous with the hard wire vs fighting a sketchy Bluetooth connection.

My wire was run from above license plate bracket down to the rear bumper compartment in between the inner and outer walls with appropriate waterproof (and earthquake road proof) fittings. From there it snakes under the belly up to the tongue following niches already there for propane. I haven’t had any problems with it after many rough sections of road all over TX and out to southern CA.

The integration with dash display is flawless and a simple joy to use.

There’s an aftermarket module to make any of the cams accessible at any speed, instead of limiting them to <= 6 mph. That it probably my next addition so I can use the rear cam as a rear view mirror while towing down the road.

SereneStream, thank you. Very good feedback for me to consider. Two questions: all other things being equal would you install where you did or up higher? Secondly, how hard is it to fish the cable between the skins above and below the license plate? Is there insulation back there? Any obstructions to fish around?
