Congrats on a nice execution of a great idea. I mean, just think about it. You could plan out exactly what you wanted the layout to be in your dream trailer, and the length, then go buy one of those monster 30 footers people seem to be trying to give away, shorten it up and get the windows where you want it, and come out with the perfect trailer. You might not want it to be 10ft, you might want to create your own perfect 20ft trailer with big windows and vistaviews. Heck, you could even do wrap arounds on both ends by chopping up two trailers and using both front ends. Cool idea.

Save a "Hit by Tree" Trailer!
WooHoo! You've just created an art form for those totalled trailers hit by trees. AND you can sell the unused aluminum for recycling to pay for a little bit of the cost.
Of course you COULD get a similar look by painting a Casita silver!
It IS an intreguing idea, and sure a great "easy tow, weekender" camper.
Thanks, I enjoyed this thread. Karma coming your way.

I have ideas of tiny Airstreams swirling in my brain after reading this thread. Marvelous, not to mention, adorable. How many of us now want one? ~G

G is that like visions of sugar plums dancing through your head? Now you've got me doing it, counting bubbles in stead of sheep. Joey I love it. Paula's right, if you could scope out the damaged deals and make a whole, you could really cash in on it. And then their are the people who want to downsize from their 30 and 34'.

I wonder why the smaller ones are so expensive i originally got mine for 1500.00 i may have paid to much but thats neither here nor there. All i have had to buy to cut mine down is 3 sheets of plywood some bolts and screws some sealer and a lot of rivets and time.Ohh and some insulation.

Demand and the ability to be towed by a something other than a 1 ton truck As best I can tell they made more of the longer units in the 70's and 80's because that was what was selling to the retirees that were heading out to see America. I know when I was a kid in Florida (Sarasota and Tallahassee area) we would ride our bikes out to the main highway and watch the snowbirds go by and look for the Big Silver Airstreams.
Interesting little trailer you have there.

I dont think i will ever be done with my airstream because im a tinkerer and cant leave nothing alone I always have ideals popping into my head so i will constantly improve my little airstream bubble.im finishing up the inside panels and moving to the under belly panels next and then i get to build the bed in front.I can see the campground now calling my name.

Interesting trailer - it really does have a military/utilitarian look, but I can't imagine that the military would be building trailers.

That is the top secret WB Airstream stargazer edition commisioned bt NASA to rigid government specifications. Only two models were ever made. That is the last one left on earth, as the other model was secretly placed in the cargo hold on the moon mission. It now resides on the moon with welcoming messages inside for distant travelers who may happen upon it.
Ssh! top secret - don't let anyone know you know.
