Vintaqe Advantage

There was quite a thread on the last Blue Beret, so I thought I would start one on the current Vintage Advantage.

I received my copy yesterday. The first issue with the new editor, Forrest McClure, and his assistant, Rich Luhr. Congratulations on your first issue, although I am confused by the blank pages on the inside front two pages, but in reading the issue, I don't think that anything is missing.

Nice to see a letters to the editor section, hope this will be fun and constructive and not a complaint section. Nice report on the 2006 International in Salem and especially the picture of the Strummin' Streamers from El Camino Real. Informative article from Fred Coldwell, as usual.

Good Work,

Bill

Don't worry, you're not missing anything Bill, et al. Forrest explained it to the VAC Board as follows:
Quote:
One thing you will notice is that it has two blank pages. My bad. This is the result of "on the job" training. Apparently, it has to do with the number of pages being divisible by 4. I'm trying to visualize that in my head, each sheet of paper containing 4 pages, but I'm still on the learning curve.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Shari

Bill,

I'm happy that you are glad there is a letters to the editor page in the VA. However, the next issue may not have any since no letters have been mailed to me to publish. The upcoming deadline is November 30th. Does anyone have anything to say? Any opinions? Bryan Burkhart told me that he had trouble getting the newsletter out because he couldn't get contributions. It's looking like that hasn't changed. The VA was mailed to over 800 members, but there has been little to no response.

Do you have a web site or any info on the V.A.? If you can post it here without running afoul of the "Vendor" rules.

You can get a letter to the editor to me by simply sending it as a private message here on Airstream Forums.

I noticed that the Rally they profiled as a how to do it right model was exactly like a forum rally. I was happy to see that. I'm happy to see positive change.

Hi Fyrzowt:

Here's the web site for the Vintage Airstream Club:

http://airstream.net/index.html

The Vintage Advantage is our quarterly news magazine (in lieu of a "newsletter"). We're an intraclub of the WBCCI, and the only thing we push is having fun among friends with old aluminum. .

Went to the link and read this but I could not find a subscription form, what page is it on?

"Want to get the newsletter without becoming a WBCCI/VAC Member? Get your subscription form here!"

Thanks Shari, but not a vac membership form. From the web page it says you can get a subscription to the newsletter without becoming a member by filling out the newsletter subscription form here. But can't find the "here"

Now that I read you have two new editors I was interested in seeing what they are like.

I can't be a vac member perhaps a u-no-vac member. I know you call that an associate.

Hi Carol:

I'll stick my pipe frame out here and take a roll at it. I think Daisy Welch is in charge of "subscriptions" for non-VAC members who want to get The Vintage Advantage without being a VAC member, as contrasted to VAC members (who also get The Vintage Advantage but must own an Airstream 25 or more years old), which is Scott's domain.

So please contact Daisy first for details (and a form, if different or required) on how to subscribe. But if her address or email has changed and what appears below is no longer current, then please contact Scott.

Thanks Fred, call me odd but if I can't be a member, I just really don't want to pay to join to still not be a member. See me in 25 years.

However paying for the subscription is fine.

I'll try Daisy first, though you may want to change that paragraph then on the front page or link it to something.

Thanks.

EDIT: Thanks Leo. I see your investigative skills are still as sharp as ever.

Age before beauty. I was born one year before my 1948 Wee Wind, and so we both got combined into my Forum identity.

Clarifications...in a nutshell:

Quote:

The website is in the process of being re-designed...some of the info has not yet been updated or the links 100% operational. But in the meantime, heres how it works:

The VAC is an IntraClub of the WBCCI, you must be a member of the WBCCI in order to be a member of the VAC. There are two levels of VAC membership available:
Member - A vintage trailer owner who is also member of the WBCCI
Associate - A non-vintage trailer owner who is also member of the WBCCI
Only "Members" have voting privledges on VAC issues or can hold a VAC office, "Associates" can not. Both "Members" & "Associates" can attend & particiapte in most VAC events. The International Rally Parade, Parking and Councouse d'Elegance is for "Members" only.
Subscription Only - Is someone who is not a WBCCI Member or does not own an Airstream - they just want to get the VA
The "Subcription Only" status only receives the Vintage Advantage, but can not attend VAC Events (unless they are specific Buddy Rallies and they are attending with a VAC member). The $20 covers cost of the subscription to the Vintage Advantage.

Scott is the Membership Chairman and tracks ALL dues, membership records and VA Subscriptions for Members & Associate Members. Daisy assists by tracking the "Subcription Only" folks.

In a pinch, you can send things to either Scott, Daisy or any other VAC Regional Rep or VAC Board member and they will know what to do with it.

Shari

Shari - You gave me a little scare when I read that Scott had moved from Ohio. I sent my membership aplication to his old address a couple of weeks ago and when I read he had moved, I figured the worst.
I emailed Scott this morning and he replied that my stuff was in the mail.
Checked the mailbox this afternoon and it was here.

You guys are good!

Didn't meant to scare you!

I think his house in OH is "in the family" so I'm sure his mail is forwarded...but, it's just one more handling. Glad yours made the transition without issue ~

Just a heads up to all VAC members and VA subscribers - the winter issue was mailed last Tuesday (Dec. 12th). I just got mine in the mail today, and I only live a couple miles from the mailing house. If anyone doesn't get theirs by the end of the month please contact:

Scott Scheuermann at
VACMembership@iowatelecom.net if you are a VAC member,
Or

Daisy Welch at
jtdjtd@tiac.net if you are a subscriber only.

Thanks,
VA Editor

Forrest,

Thanks, I will keep a look out and I am sure that it will be an outstanding issue.

Hi, could someone please explain what the WBCCI is and how the VAC is related. Also, is the VA exclusive to VAC members and the WBCCI members have their own magazine? Anybody want to explain or point me in a direction that explains the benefits and advantages of membership in each?

Thanks!
