Vintage Advantage newsletter

Hello everyone,

Just a reminder that if you have an article on rallies or caravans, vintage renovation tips and hints, or a letter to the editor, or photos, etc. etc. please send them to me by February 28th - the deadline for the March issue of the Vintage Advantage Newsletter. That's nine days from now!

Don't be shy or modest, you are the experts the newsletter needs to hear from, and you do not need to be a member of the WBCCI or VAC to contribute. It benefits all vintage Airstreamers, not just the Club because we have a growing list of subscribers only. Subscribers are not members but simply get the newsletter.

You might ask, "why help the newsletter when I can post what I want here on AirstreamForums?" The answer is that not all Airstreamers have an Internet connection or even a computer. I'd estimate that the number of Airstream owners without Internet could be as high as 30%. Their only means of Airstream community is via old-fashion paper and snail mail! They are important never the less and would like to hear from you.

Hope to hear from some of you soon! The Vintage Advantage newsletter is the only magazine driven and maintained by subscribers and club members. It is only as good as your participation. It is a great way to practice your writing skills and be published in a national publication.

If you are interested in a subscription for yourself (not membership in the WBCCI or VAC) send a $20 (US) check made out to: "Vintage Advantage Subscription"

Please mail payment along with your complete mailing address to:

Daisy Welch

Rapid City, SD 57702

Thanks,

Forrest McClure
Vintage Advantage Editor

I used to subscribe to it as a non-member. At one time it was an excellent publication. I even stayed with it when they went up on price to non-members. I dropped it when it became little more than a listing of WBCCI rallies. It may have changed back for the better by now. This was several years ago.

I agree - it did get pretty bad, but the past couple of issues since Forrest got involved have been great - to me its back to being the simple publication that it was way back when and has had some great articles.

Of course the contents of the upcoming issue may change as the deadline is still 9 days away, but I anticipate that it will contain an article by Fred Coldwell regarding 1947 to 1951 Airstream Liners. Fred has been a steady contributor for many years. There will also be letters to the editor, such as one by WBCCI Int'l Caravan Chairman Bob Bennett. There will be a book review and I plan on this becoming a regular feature. "News from the Campfire" has been added to this coming issue and it is as it sounds - news about Airstreams and Airstreamers or RVing in general. Our last couple of issues had photo essays, one on the VAC Parade into the Int'l Rally in Salem, and another on the Rocky Mt. VAC Rally in Creede, Colorado. Of course there will be several pages of announcements - rallies, caravans, etc. The last page is reserved for the "Back Bumper" - essays, critique, opinion etc.

Hurrah! Just got my copy of The Vintage Advantage newsletter (Fall 2007) produced by the new editor, Kimber Moore, and it is the glossiest most professional looking newsletter the VAC has ever had. Congratulations, Kimber, on a job well done!
