This will be a toughie since the WBCCI number pertains to the owner rather than the trailer and it's likely that the trailer has changed hands, possibly several times, in its lifetime. Streamer23 on this list has a pretty good file of member directories. Maybe he can tell you who the previous owners were, and one of them might have a record of the VIN number.
It is true that WBCCI asks for the serial number as evidence of Airstream ownership on their membership application, but I don't know if they keep that information once a member is signed up.
Both of our vintage Airstreams have a short number (4 or 5 digits) beaded on the inside of the "A" frame with an arc welder but it doesn't bear any obvious relationship with the trailer serial number. (I have always wondered what those numbers meant.)
I am sort of assuming the previous owner had a title--what does it give for a VIN number?
Good luck,
