Bill, who's the membership chair? I just checked the VAC site, and it doesn't even list one. (It's got Pres, 1st Vice, 2nd Vice, 3rd Vice, Rec. Sec., and Immediate Past.)

We're filling out our reservation for RMVAC in Salida, and ... well, obviously, it would help if we managed to pay our dues on time. I think we did, but neither of us can remember for sure.

I am no longer the membership coordinator but I can answer one question you had. It involves the process that we used this year for renewals in the VAC. Being as the whole renewal online process was new to everybody it had its challenges.
First of all, we took all the member who had renewed through 2010 and manually batched uploaded them up to the website and activated their account with temporary passwords. Next, we batch uploaded all of the members and subscribers who had not yet renewed to the site. With them all uploaded we sent out an email message to all of them saying that

it was time to renew and they could do it online. We did find out that many of the email addresses we had were bad and that alone caused a lot of headaches.
All in all, as with practically every year that I have been involved in the membership aspects of the VAC the same thing happens. Multiple notices go out that it is time to renew but for whatever reason many people miss it and come back later and ask if they were in good standing. The cost to the club to mail out postcards for example is not great, but this year over 300 of them were sent out despite the 4 notices that went out to the members.
That is the nature of organizations - I have seen it in every one that I have been involved with. The key is to try to improve things as much as possible so it reduces the cost to the club and the burden to the volonteers.

For your experience, Lynn, I made some changes to better indicate the additional contact information for the region leaders and officers in the club. Hopefully this will help others find the correct contact information.

A day after I posted the original, we received a postcard in the mail saying that our membership had indeed expired. So I went online and renewed. Since it was electronic, I suspect we'll show as renewed before the mule gets our RMVAC registration to its destination.
