VINTAGE 1952 Chevy Tin Woody Wagon

Title:
I just posted a new ad on Airstream Classifieds.

REDUCED = I am selling my 52 Chevy Tin Woodie Wagon.

This is a California car, from what I was told it spent it's first 50 years there, and is shows. There is NO RUST! Being born and raised in the rust belt I am amazed by the condition of this car. In the two years I have owned it I have seen every inch of this car, inside all the doors, the floors, the rocker panels, the tailgate, and I have found zero rust or rot anywhere. If body work is your thing, have no fear, there are plenty of dents to repair, and it is in need of a paint job.

This station wagon runs fantastic. It has a 235 cu. in. 6 cylinder from a 1957 Chevy, (that means that it is a full flow oil system, not a dipper motor like originally equipped). It runs so strong that I feel it had to have been rebuilt when it was put in this car. (no documentation) I have driven it quite a bit and I have never had to add oil. Even when I drove it to St. Paul MN. and back, (5 hour drive each way) it did not use any oil.

REPLACED:
the original 3 speed transmission with a 5 speed overdrive transmission
clutch and pressure plate
the rear end with a 10 bolt (open) rear end with a 3.42 gear.
New rear brakes
driveshaft is brand new, made at a local driveshaft shop.

The above changes have made this woody a pleasure to drive on the highway, Instead of screaming down the road, it now turns 2,000 RPM at 65 MPH, and gets 18-20 miles per gallon doing it. The car is very responsive. The 5 speed really wakes up the motor, it seems that you are always in the correct torque band, it is a load of fun to drive, BUT, it is not going to set any land speed records.

The car has brand new tires (maybe 1,000 miles)
Cragar wheels (Halibrand look-a-likes)
The car steers very well, the steering box was rebuilt last spring.
The front end is tight, seems to have been rebuilt recently.
The exhaust is fair, I have not replaced it because I was going to put a split manifold and duals on.
The radiator is recent, always runs cool
The water pump was just replaced.
The battery is recent
New electric wipers
The car has been re-wired with new factory kit
upgraded to 12 volts
The interior has been re-done, the seats are new.
The carpet is new.
The door panels are new, (black walnut with cherry stain)
The oak trim has been refinished.
The head liner is close to perfect.
The bumpers have been replaced
new gas tank
The trim is all there with only a couple pieces needing to be replaced.
2 Inch receiver hitch for pulling your vintage trailer

If you are interested in a nostalgic vehicle that turns heads where ever it goes, and actually functions better than it did when it was brand new, this is the one. The cars needs nothing mechanically right now, so you can leave it as is, or take it to what ever level you want.
An LS 5.3, 6.0, a 383 stroker, or a big block would be nice, but there is something to be said about the 6 banger.

I could go on and on, but I won't. Call with questions. The last picture is what it could be when it grows up.
