Price for used.

Any suggestions on how to best determine the value of a used Airstream besides just reviewing used sites?

NADA RV Price guide is a good source for used RV pricing. I watched the classifieds for two years, made a few offers, and noted actual selling price when the unit was sold before I was able to make an offer. I found about 3-5% over the low retail to be be a good indication of the actual market price when in expected condition. I also found that dealers make about 15-20% gross return and thus offer about 15% below low retail for buy-backs, and try to sell them about 10% over low retail.

NADA is no where close to accurate value on Airstreams.

I found them to be very close for late model at least. 2014 and newer. Give me some examples where you find them to be wrong. Just saying they are wrong is not very useful.

For older Airstream trailers they are way off in my opinion. Just checked for our 91 25' and they give a low retail of $11,500 and avg retail of $13,500, from my following the trend the past few years on that model it's more like a low of $20k and avg. around $25k and we had ours sold for $31K before the wife decided she wanted to keep it.

For newer used trailers the numbers might be close because the NADA numbers are based on the inflated MSRP which is often discounted by 20% by larger dealerships. A good example is a one year old 25 Flying Cloud Queen has a suggested retail which is slightly higher than the 20% off MSRP.

On the other hand, older used trailers are so far under valued that it can not be used to accurately determine the value. The value is what someone is willing to pay for the trailer. The bigger problem with these under valued numbers is that the insurance companies use these.
