I just posted a new ad on Airstream Classifieds.
The trailer has several desirable features, including a complete kitchen, a walk around "double" rear bed and a salon sofa that converts to a bed, air conditioning and heat, hot water heater, fresh water and black water holding tanks, and wall to wall carpeting (linoleum flooring underneath carpet). The kitchen has a double basin ceramic sink, a full size, dual propane/electric refrigerator with freezer, microwave oven, exhaust fan, large storage pantry, and plenty of quality real wood cabinetry. The salon features a wide convertable sofa/sleeper,a rocker side chair, indirect lighting, a roof TV antenna, and decorative wood shelving that offers the display of pictures and other treasures. A unique wall mounted fold away table allows the salon to be used for dining, as well. Wood accordion doors on either side of the bathroom afford complete privacy for the bathroom and the bedroom. The bedroom offers a double sized bed, with reading lamps and opening side windows for ventilation. The center bath has a gravity flush toilet with holding tank, a full size bath tub and shower unit, an opening window and vent fan. In the hall near the bathroom, a spacious wooden hanging closet/shelving/drawer unit for clothing and shoes. The twin propane tanks are located at the front of the unit, a full length awning shades the curb side of the trailer, and awnings on all windows in the unit – and have curtains that open to allow cool breezes for comfort. Batteries and tires have been replaced recently. To assist with towing this unit, the sale includes a high quality, heavy duty hitch, along with heavy anti-sway bars, which combine with the dual axle design to make towing a breeze. The unit is in good condition, and must be seen to be appreciated. The trailer is located in Miami, Florida. This unit will require pick up after the sale. For delivery, please inquire.
This is a 1986 Avion 30R travel Trailer. Avions have solid wood, dove-tailed cabinets throughout. The exterior has 4 good working awnings in great condition. It has an auto lighting gas water heater.
Avions of this style were made by Fleetwood from 1981to 1990 and were discontinued because of there price being higher than Airstream. Many people believe Avions were superior to Airstream with a heavy FULL frame from front to back, 4 independent leaf spring suspension instead of the rubber torsion bar suspension of Airstreams that go bad with age. Most airstreams of this age need both axles replaced at $1000 each plus labor because of the rubber torsions getting hard and not working well (ours have both been replaced, one less thing to worry about).
Avions also have full spray foam insulation throughout all 6 sides with a double insulated floor. Avions were made of heavy aircraft type anodized aluminum and can not be polished to a high shine.
This camper has;
* 65 gallon fresh water holding tank
* 30 gallon gray water
* 40 gallon Black water holding tanks
* weighs about 5,900 empty
* hitch weight of about 650 Lbs.
It pulls like a dream without sway and very smooth. Avions as well as Airstreams of this style have been holding their value and you should be able to use it for years with no loss of value if you treat it well.
