Title: 1979 Airstream Safari 23 - Colorado
I just posted a new ad on Airstream Classifieds.
Up for sale a 1979 airstream safari international land yacht wide-body dual axle 23'.
This trailer is partially stripped to assess the floor condition and get rid of the vinyl, but all systems are in place and the interior panels are still installed. Currently the kitchen and bath are intact save for the closet being removed. The gaucho frames are available for re- building if desired. Basically, it is ready for a new interior, the floor is exposed for study but looks very good to me. '79 had the better plywood clamp design, is still alclad (polish-able) exterior, and was late enough that the rear sagging the early '70s experienced and other issues were fixed.
I saved a few panels for templates for interior work, and the aforementioned gaucho frames. The dual-pane windows all look good except the one by the door, which has the bubbled appearance and can be fixed by removing the interior pane. Tires are a few years old but good condition, axles are good for age, towing lights all work, e-brakes work.
This would be a great trailer for someone wanting a modernized airstream, short 23' but 8' wide body, blank slate. best practice would still be removing the interior panels and belly pan for cleaning, but that is up to you.
The recent history of this trailer is several years of storage in Wyoming and Colorado, and it lived most of its life in Nebraska prior to that. I have the Nebraska '83 plates... currently clear title in Colorado.
