Title: 1977 Airstream Tradewind 25 - New Mexico
I just posted a new ad on Airstream Classifieds.
1977 AIRSTREAM Trade Wind Land Yacht 25
Nearing completion and priced to sell, this classic 1977 AIRSTREAM Trade Wind 25 has what can only be called a perfect vintage body. From the near-mint condition, unsullied-by-goop roof, to the intact undercarriage, perfect wheel wells, and gorgeous side body, this unit is in truly remarkable condition. Stand-out features include the original, undamaged Plexi-Glas front window rock guard, an awesome pair of locking aluminum battery doors, and a perfect aluminum rear bumper with a heavy duty, spring-loaded aluminum lid. All the windows have original glass in great condition and open up with heavy duty mechanisms. This particular unit also features the sought-after “port hole” skylights and classic round outside entryway light.
This double-axle Trade Wind 25 accepts the larger 2-5/16” ball and the tongue is factory-stamped “Frame Rated Capacity of 20,000.” The huge taillight nacelles provide high nighttime visibility and include backup lights, there is a front vent for cooling the converter, and the entry door works perfectly on undamaged hinges. The original lockset is in good working order and the original landing gear works smoothly in both directions. These are just a few of the features that make this “late model” Trade Wind 25 an exceptional travel trailer.
Inside, the roomy cabin sleeps four and both the double bed and fold-out sofa have unbreakable frames of welded 1” square aluminum tubing. There is a nifty bi-level storage system under the sofa. The “galley” area has a double sink that angles out away from the sidewall for extra head room and a spacious Formica countertop in good vintage condition. The original Magic Chef range/oven, Suburban solid-state furnace, range hood, and 12-volt converter all work well and there is dedicated space for your refrigerator. The original folding dining table is perfect and stows away when not in use and the original Tambour cabinetry is intact and in excellent condition. The bathroom is in good condition with original mirrors, shower curtain and rod, and tub/shower/sink fixtures all in place and undamaged. There are three (3) great “double action” vents in the cabin roof instead of the usual two. I have powered up the unit and all the interior lights, duplex outlets, and 4-speaker stereo are functional.
This 1977 AIRSTREAM Trade Wind Land Yacht 25 is strong, lightweight, extremely aero-dynamic, and is being sold AS IS. If any vintage AIRSTREAM is worthy of one of those amazing polishing jobs it is this one, the one with the perfect body and original, intact cabin. The unit is located in Silver City, New Mexico, and pre-paid delivery to points west at a reasonable cost is possible, if desired.
