Title:
1968 Airstream Overlander 26 - Texas
I just posted a new ad on Airstream Classifieds.
1968 Airstream Land Yacht
Excellent project - Food Trailer. If desired as food trailer check out our website at
www.greatbigsignsinc.com, we could make you a deal.
Removed water damaged flooring and insulation. Cut out damage to frame and welded in new frame section. Crippen metals to match factory profile. Replaced existing fender wells with heavier gauge aluminum.
Used Ospho on frameworks and coated with automotive undercoating to prevent rust. Added new insulation under floor and replaced floor throughout. Special order floor is marine grade plywood, which was then covered with wood grain linoleum while the body was off the floor for floor replacement. Removed interior side walls, replaced insulation in walls and reinstalled and checked electrical wiring. Repainted.
Removed all broken windows and replaced with new Plexiglas. It has some remaining windows which are the original curved glass. Removed exterior trim, which is in storage, but goes with purchase. Polished with Nu-Vite Nushine F9-F7 but is still lacking medium to fine polishing.
I started replacing plumping (all parts included). It was at this point I began thinking of a more open floor plan.
Previous owner had removed interior and cut pieces of ¼ in plywood. I ordered enough cabinet grade plywood to replace entire interior. Included in purchase.
We also are including several books I required on Airstreams – neat history, neat company built during period of American Craftsmanship
