1967 Airstream Safari 22 - Kansas

Title: 1967 Airstream Safari 22 - Kansas
I just posted a new ad on Airstream Classifieds.

Last year I purchased this beauty in hopes of finishing out the inside and hitting the road. As often happens, plans change and I’m looking to pass this onto someone else to pick-up where I left-off.

This vintage 1967 Airstream Safari is 22 feet long with a single axle. I purchased it from a retired Boeing sheet metal worker and it absolutely shows. The exterior use to be painted but that has been removed and the aluminum shell has been buffed to a mirror finish. Several patches have been installed - water heater, furnace vents and they look original. Purchase will include a Cyclo dual head orbital polisher, a bunch of Olympic rivets, several tubes of TremPro 635 and a rivet shaver.

He completely gutted it down to the frame and rebuilt it from there. The frame was treated for rust and repainted. New belly skin was installed along with all new insulation. A new 5/8” plywood subfloor was installed that was sealed with a marine paint on both sides. The axle is brand new along with the tires and wheels, including the spare. I have a ton of photos that he provided showing the original condition and where it is today.

All wiring is brand new and setup for both 120v and 12v. I have two different breaker boxes that will come with the purchase - Progressive Dynamics PD4500 & and smaller Progressive Dynamics 30AMP box . Additionally all of the exterior lighting has been replaced.

Both the grey water and 30 gallon fresh water tanks are brand new and have never been used. It does not have a black water tank as I was planning on putting in a composting toilet. There is a new water pump along with the rough in pumping that is all PEX. The trailer is currently plumbed for a shower and a sink.

A new Attwood On-Demand tankless water heater has been installed.

A new rooftop Domestic Heat Pump has been installed along with 2 Fantastic Fans that are reversible and include rain sensors

The interior has been insulated and new aluminum panels riveted in place in all areas except the rounded ends as you can see from the photos. A reclaimed oak hardwood floor has been installed and sealed.

Installed on the roof is a Windgard Pathway X1 antenna that works with DISH. The DISH receiver is also included. It has also been wired for for outside cable.

I planned on adding solar panels as well and purchase will include the Go Power! Solar Elite Complete Solar and Inverter System with 320 Watts of Solar - The Solar Elite kit is a large solar and inverter system. It is designed for anyone that would like the benefit of solar power to charge their batteries and the ability to use AC appliances when there is no utility power available. For example you can run a microwave, TV, blender, audio sound equipment, computers and more. This kit contains a 320 Watt solar charging kit and a 2000 Watt pure sine wave inverter system. The Solar Elite includes everything you need to hook the solar and inverter system up to your batteries and install the solar panels on a flat surface. The Solar Elite is great for charging your RV, boat, cottage and cabin batteries, while providing you with AC power without the noise of a generator or the fuel and maintenance cost that goes with it. The Solar Elite is excellent for long weekend and extended trips, and is expandable by adding a GP-RV-160E expansion kit (sold separately) for a total of 480 watts of solar charging power. This allows you to take full advantage of available sunlight for faster charging and added capacity. Go Power! recommends at least a 400 amp our battery bank for the Solar Elite kit.

Also purchased but not installed is a 2-way 6.0 cubic foot refrigerator [Dometic DM2652RB]. All the windows have been tinted and new screens where made for each.

I’ve included my plans for the renovation and you will see that it included a 4 foot bed in the rear, a shower and composting toilet, a kitchen that included a sink and stovetop, 6.0 cubic foot refig and microwave and a collapsible dining area that would covert into another sleeping area.

This will be a great project and an amazing ride when finished.
