1967 Airstream Caravel 17 - New York

Title: 1967 Airstream Caravel 17 - Virginia
I just posted a new ad on Airstream Classifieds.

1967 Caravel "Tinsley" is looking for a new home!

We are Home with her now, after 2 weeks at Highland Haven Airstream Park, in Copper Hill, Virginia, for a fall camping trip. She is in great shape. Everything works.....and now we are winterizing her. So if you are going to warmer climates for the winter....she is all set to go!

This Vintage Airstream Caravel will be 50 next year, and we are only her third owners. A rare design and size, only about 500 of these were ever made. We gutted this trailer, and so everything is new. The floors, wiring, plumbing, cabinetry, some of the Windows etc. All new Zolotone on the walls. We updated the design a bit, moving the bathroom and enlarging the kitchen.

We remade the bed length to fit my tall 6 ft husband. The mattresses have an added layer of memory foam, so it is a really comfortable sleep. We kept the original oven/stove and it works great. We also kept the original Bakelite shower sprayer and a few of the lighting fixtures, as well as the base cabinets for both pullout beds, and the original doors on the upper cabinets.
The rest of the cabinetry was all rebuilt using the originals as patterns.

The shower in the wet bath is quite roomy. A friend with a new Airstream Interstate remarked at how large it was! Cute turquoise boomerang patterned walls, and a real china toilet.

The mattresses have denim slip covers which come off easily to wash. Same with the denim curtains. The floor is a marmoleum in turquoise as a nod to the year..1967! Also the boomerang patterned Formica inside the cabinets. Charcoal grey countertops with the aluminum edge, and a stainless steel sink. The refrigerator runs on gas or electric and is also new. Hot water heater is new. Heater is new. AC is original, and is very cold. Fantastic fan is new. Axel is new. Half moon hubcaps are new. We took out the few plexiglass Windows that had been added, and replaced with the original Corning glass curved ones.

P and S Vintage Trailers clear coated Tinsley for us to protect the Aluminum shell for easy care. No need to polish again for 30 plus years! She has her original vinyl blue and white striped awning.

Tinsley has been well loved, and we will miss her. Good starter trailer for a small family. Also a good trailer if you are downsizing and want something that is easy care, and easy to tow. Due to the size, she fits right next to our garage in our small driveway. She was a perfect size for us...2 adults and 2 small schnauzers!!! Nice vintage trailer with good modern updates. $54,000 plus has been invested in this Vintage Trailer.

We are selling only due to unexpected, unfortunate health issues. Our camping days have come to an end. We are hoping to find the right buyer who will give her another good 50 years of fun! Call, text or email today. I can send more pictures by email if you need them. THANX!
