I just posted a new ad on Airstream Classifieds.
Classic Bambi size Airstream in outstanding condition. This is survivor quality, with most parts original including appliances, countertops, sinks, windows and screens, lights, drapes, and even the upholstery...all just like it came from the factory. This trailer has been very well maintained and does not really need restoration.
On the other hand... if you are so inclined, this one has the bones to be as good as any restored
Caravel out there. It has the original curved Corning glass windows and the original hot water heater vent cover. The only cosmetic period anomaly is the flooring. Incidentally, the subfloor is rock solid.
Upgrades include:
New Henschen torsion axel including 10% higher rating than original
new electric brakes
new wheel bearings
Modern Airstream factory aluminum wheels including spare (originals were steel)
New Atwood 6 gal water heater
New Charge Wizard electrical supply
Battery relocated from inside under bed to outside front tongue in new aluminum box
New aluminum 7 gal propane tanks
New propane regulator and hoses
New Awning
New sewer dump valve
New Shureflow water pressurization pump
New Freshwater tank.
New Catalytic heater (in addition to working original DuraFlame heater)
Cons:
Clearcoat is failing. The trailer can be polished to a mirror finish if desired as the Alclad Aluminum body is near perfect. Three minor hardly noticeable rock dings in top front panel, otherwise flawless.
I have not used the refrigerator in 4 years as my tow vehicle has solar electric refrigeration. Probably needs a tune up or replaced.
