Title:
1967 Airstream
Caravel 17 - Arizona
I just posted a new ad on Airstream Classifieds.
Our very original
1967 Airstream
Caravel is going up for sale. She's only 17 feet long, weights a mere 2,350 lbs dry, and she sleeps 3. It has all the original fixtures, bath, and appliances. We purchased this trailer to put into our rental fleet, but we never seem to get to work on her because of our other renovation projects. So she is up for sale, a rare find in her original condition. Also RetroRVs stands ready to renovate her to fit your vision.
The aluminum Alclad skin is in fair condition. She was found in Texas City, TX and the pollution have been hard on her. We polished up a test patch on the rear corner to show how the Airstream will look polished. Alclad has a layer of pure aluminum on the outside that can be polished to a mirror-like reflection. The front street side corner has a dent and small tear. We would suggest replacing this segment.
Looking forward from the center of the Airstream you can see the front couch with storage over it. This trailer features a slide out couch on the street side that becomes a double bed on the street side and an L-shaped couch up front that is a single bed, so she sleeps 3 adults. On the curb side by the door is a fold out dining table. The picture also shows the new wheels that fit the trailer and the red color looks great. They are all ready for new tires and baby moon hub caps.
Looking back along the street side you can see the original slide out couch with two windows above. And there is overhead storage above that. The wall that separates this sleeping area from the bath has the original wall covering still intact. The original tile floor needs to be replaced. We suggest Marmoleum, which we install for you. Two color patterns will create a real retro look. The light fixtures throughout this Airstream are original too.
The curb side behind the door holds a compact kitchen. It has a Dometic gas/electric refrigerator with freezer, a sink, three burner range with oven below. The oven is great for cookies or pizza and completes the fully outfitted kitchen. A small furnace sits below the oven to keep you warm. And the roof mounted A/C will keep you cool when plugged into 30 amp power or a generator. The cabinets throughout the Airstream are original with overhead as well as under cabinet storage in the kitchen. And a full height pantry/closet sits just outside of the bathroom.
The bathroom was a first in a 17-foot Airstream. The earlier Bambi lacked one. It is a wet bath, which means the toilet gets wet when you shower. The street side has an RV toilet and the curb side has the sink and shower controls. A curtain closes across the front of the bath to keep the water off of the floor.
Small original Airstreams are very hard to find. We searched for a year before finding this one. She is the perfect candidate for a full restoration, and that is why be bought her, to renovate and put in our vintage Airstream rental fleet. But our renovation projects have prevented us working on her. But we would be glad to work on her for you.
